I am the only one in my family who doesn't wear glasses... At one point when I was in the army, I had 20/15 vision... I could almost see the future. Now I have trouble reading street signs and scoreboards, etc.

I think the time has come for me to concede to my need for vision correction.

Anyone else get glasses (and/or contacts) later in life?

I'm scared of touching my eye ball and generally too vain for regular glasses.

Uhg.

It's not bad to put in contacts... You get used to it.

Then again, I never had a problem touching my eye.

*Pro Tip*
If you get glasses, make sure and get a few contacts for when you need to take your eye exam for a new license. Put contacts in, tell attendant you don't wear contacts, pass eye test, and don't get a restriction on your license.

ETA You can get contacts that you can leave in to sleep and don't have to change everyday.

I sort of wish I started earlier with this bullshite. Now I'm set in my "no touching eye balls" ways.

Definitely, but I need a short-term fix and I'm not too keen on "touching" my eyeball. Don't get me started on how I feel about lasers...

Man up. It's not the end of the world.

Contacts are easy, but they can irritate your eyes.

Just get a sharp pair of glasses.

Well... With contacts you never "really" touch your eye.

I didn't get them until I was 30. Now at 46, I have bifocals. I can get by without glasses, but it's like walking around without pants.

If you have astigmatism, don't even think about contacts.

I'm told it wouldn't help me enough to make it worthwhile

I don't mind wearing glasses to read. If I couldn't get around without them it might suck though.

I didn't get glasses until I was 24 and contacts when I was 29.

You get used to contacts. It freaked me out at first...but you really do get used to them.

Lasik doesn't really do much for people that are farsighted.

Also LASIK is not permanent for most people.

Edited farsighted... I get them confused.

I'm only 29 and got reading glasses about 3 years ago. My vision was pretty good up to that point. Just started to get more eye fatigue when reading or using the computer. I'm farsighted in my left eye mostly, so my glasses are +1.50 in my left eye and +0.25 in my right. I don't give a shite about wearing glasses, though. I'm already a nerd.
