Either do it yourself or like someone said get Lowe's to send in its team of illegals.

Rent auger two man auger

Ask buddy to help auger holes.

Auger every 8 feet

Put 4x4 post in holes

Mix quikcrete in wheel barrow

Fill holes with quikcrete and level post

As mix starts to set, continue check level and adjust if need due to movement

Wait a day

Fasten 2x4s to posts using galvanized screws or nails. Three bands per span of 8ft

Starting at one end of fence, fasten slats to bands. Two screws or nails into each band

Youtube gate design of your choice and build

Unless you just have zero time available, you are just paying somebody handsomely to do one of the easiest home projects. Building a fence is very simple.

Ya, I'm gonna go ahead and pay someone to make it not look shitty.

I DIY the stuff I can talk myself into. Usually starts off with "No way" then "Let me see" to "That doesn't look that hard" to "God fricking damn it, I keep messing up and its taking me hours" to "That'll work I guess"

I also feel like the home buying/tool industry is a giant conspiracy. I don't think I've ever done a project that didn't devolve into me buying a tool to complete the task the previous tool couldn't quite wrap up. At the end, I have 3 to 4 tools I didn't have before. The tool people were behind the housing bubble, I'm convinced.

All I did was pour the quikcrete into the hole with the post. Then sprayed the top with water. I was told it'll get the water it needs from the ground.

Installed? That sounds about right.

Cedar will cost you $30/foot, right?

They sell post concrete where you dump in the dry mix and add X gallons of water per lbs mix used.

Much easier than mixing it first and dumping it into the holes.

This is bad advice for fence posts, dry packing is sufficient

I think I paid $19 or $20 a foot for 6 foot pine. That was with removal and haul off of old fence. Scotts fence did mine. They did a good job. Give them a call and ask for a quote per foot. They were the cheapest I could find in BR.

I just had my fence done yesterday. 133 ft of treated pine for $16 per foot. That did not include any gates. Gates usually run about $250 a piece.

That is really the only advice you need. Always get 3 or 4 quotes. For anything

Can anyone tell me what the pros and cons are for using wood posts vs metal posts? I notice in my neighborhood the houses with metal posts only use two rails and those with wooden posts use three rails. Fencing with wooden posts look better IMO but I assume the metal posts with one less rail is cheaper. Am I wrong?

Cedar for the fence, Pine for the posts. Don't do it any other way if you want it to last and look nice for a long time.

metal will last longer and not too much more to buy, I saw a new metal post that is concealed by the wood fence to make it look all wood but they want around $30/copy
