$65 for 1700 sq ft. Gas bill $50 which is double normal rate.

Mine was $400 for December and $390 for Jan- and I put the thermostat down to 62 and relied on a wood fireplace and oil radiators for supplemental heat after I got the December bill.
Older house...about 2700 square feet along the I-40 corridor in Tennessee. We've had a miserable January as far as winters go. My house is all electric but we supplement the heat with a wood fireplace with an insert frequently.
My electric in the spring and summer is usually less than $100 with the exception of August, when it can approach $200. It's much more expensive to heat a home than cool it, apparently.

I guess I'm just remembering the good old days when I got to win a little in the winter months. The fuel adjustment charge is almost half my bill. I can't rationalize that.

Implemented when natural gas was running $13.50/million Btu's circa 2005. Now that it's running more like $4, they are just stealing from us under that guise.
However, heaven help you if your utility produces a lot of their power from coal fired plants. The Obama administration's war on coal is driving their costs through the roof.

Mine is... Thanks 1980's...
Still, I have come to terms with that. It's the fuel shite that gets me. That's what is really kicking my butt.
