Wow years of blood tests have been thrown out and Theranos is a full blown fraud now.She fought vigorously to defend her technology and now $9B valuation down the drain and she put so many peoples lives at risk over this BS. Life in prison isnt enough for her imo.

Yep. Female privilege.

There was an astonishing lack of vetting that took place from large investors.

pretty remarkable honestly that valuations could run that high when she wouldnt even release data bc she was worried about competitors seeing it. Lots of blind trust, I was always skeptical that a 19 year old in her college dorm room built a company that was gonna change blood testing.

She was a young blonde in Silicon Valley who dressed like Steve Jobs. What more could you ask for?

For as long as John did.

This is true. People wanted/needed a female tech success so badly, they were willing to dispense with typical due diligence.

This makes me sad because I was so intrigued by Elizabeth Holmes and I admired her as a CEO, and working in the healthcare industry I had high hopes for her company and the work they were doing to revolutionize healthcare. Oh well.

Never write a check until you vet the CEO for crazy eyes.
That one simple test could have saved investors millions.

What would she be charged with?

Fraud, conspiracy, manslaughter (if any of their patients died due to false testing results it would be manslaughter), etc.

DOJ is already investigating Theranos for criminal fraud

She may. Sally Yates has basically ordered the DOJ to bring her heads on sticks. DOJ is ramping up individual accountability in corporate fraud cases.

We dont know if anyone died due to theranos negligence, who knows what they find when they look deeper. Id like to see her personally hit with a manslaughter charge if someone died bc of their testing. Execs never get in trouble but this should be different.

The SEC is a civil regulatory agency. It does not send anyone to jail.

True, but he’s quoting “news” headlines.
The SEC cannot put people in jail. Enforcement may refer potential criminal cases to criminal law enforcement authorities for investigation or coordinate SEC investigations with criminal investigations involving the same conduct. If a person is convicted of a criminal violation of the securities laws, a court may sentence that person to serve time in jail.
