My spam screener catches them usually. I usually hang up on the ones that get through. They call then go over your business listing on Google. But they call all the damn time. I haven't talked to one in a while but it feels like data collection so I never answer. But then I wonder what if it is real and I'm screwing up my organic search listing.

If they don’t have an American accent, I always hang up the phone on them.

None of my in-laws have “American” accents, and they’ve all lived in South Louisiana for generations.

No, they are not legit. I get calls from them on my business lines that aren't my main business number. They are just randomly picking numbers and calling them.

I just listed last week and my cell has been blowing up ever since. Had one yesterday trying to lease space for railcar maintenance. I do SW3P's which has nothing to do with rail but they noticed that I am next to a rail line so they shot their shot just in case. Dude was in Missouri looking on Google maps I guess.

I have gotten to where I don't trust anything to do with tech if they are calling. Maybe that is a good thing, maybe it isn't, but my iCloud (that I don't have) and Amazon account (that isn't even linked to this number) can only have issues so many times before everything gets relegated to the "Likely bullshite" file.

I'd keep my eye on them if I were you.

Those companies are just looking for unverified businesses on google, so they can sell you something that you can easily do yourself for free. If you own a business, I highly recommend verifying it through google. Its free, and will allow you to customize the information that appears when someone googles your business, such as address, phone#, hours, and logo. My last job was with a small company and I verified the business through google so I could add a better description and photos. It also allowed me to respond to reviews as the "owner".

No. You should be the one in control of that Google listing/act.

So they have an American accent? An accent that was created from living in the US.

My listing shows as verified. The issue is someone else with almost the same name as mine with a Google listing that links to MY website.
Arghh.
