Because we didn't have SJW and the cold war was in full swing. Nuclear war could happen at anytime but yet people understood that Sixteen Candles was a MOVIE and left it at that.

Of course, but they will take it all in a subjective manner. You cannot say what they did in that movie now. The message Mel Brooks told was of course making fun of racists and bigots. That will be lost on this generation.

In the context of this article that make zero sense. This article is stupid for the most part but still I get the point of the Anthony Michael hall scene being a close to date rape and the Asian shite being a bit too much. I don't really care I still love the movie. 16 candles wasn't tackling these issues in the same way blazing saddles was

You must have missed the part where Jake gave him the sixer on the way to the car. Poor kid couldn't even handle his alcohol and she took advantage of that. Yes, he was driving around town at the time and went by his friends, but afterwards.
