its not that the test is easy. the test is not relevant to the issues raised by the OP.

And people who can handle their booze should have a different cutoff for a DWI. But in this socialist paradise, we have to treat everyone the same

Nope.

Pretty amazing the amount of people in this thread that want more gov involvement and limited freedoms.

What is one highly regulated thing the government gets right, that isn't just a major pain in our arse?

I don't know how my mom passed the eye test. She even laughs about it.

2 quick examples of things I've encountered in just the past week. Heading down Nicholson to take a left onto Lee. There is a car at the intersection stopped waiting to turn left across the tracks onto Brightside. So of course I hit my blinker and prepare for us to both turn left at the same time (I have two cars directly in front of me). So as I reach the intersection and we both begin to make our turns, some girl pulls into the short lane which is explicitly for those turning right onto Lee and then whips around the other car and pulls into the intersection to continue down Nicholson, accelerating like nobody's business all the while. I slam on my brakes and narrowly avoid getting t-boned.

Just this morning, while being the first car in line at a red light waiting to turn left onto an interstate onramp, the light turns green and I begin turning. Suddenly from the right, a jeep comes hurling at a very high rate of speed through the red light from the offramp and cuts in front of me, again causing me to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision.

Both of these drivers would pass an annual test. The test has nothing to do with these decisions, they weren't made because the drivers didn't know the rules of the road, they were made because both drivers were selfish, thoughtless douchebags.

Considering I had two of them pull out in front of me in less than 2miles yesterday morning I'd almost say yes

A driver's test is too easy to get and should require a more stringent written and physical test be passed in order to obtain it. Driving is a very serious endeavor;however, damn near anyone can get a license. The current testing allows plenty of Awful drivers into the road daily. It costs in many ways. I'm all for a program to weed out drivers who shouldn't be driving and get'em off the road.

Nawh, I can still drive as good as ever. Hell, I could still take a motorcycle down the Tail of the Dragon.

Everyone should have to re-take a driver's exam every 3-5 years. Way to many shitty drivers in Louisiana.

They should be tested for mental stability first then more stringent on ability.

I worry a lot more about the little young shits who are driving, texting, yapping, singing, drinking, and putting on make-up all at the same time.

Absolutely 100%

My sister's school hired a professional driving instructor to teach all of the 16 yeat olds accident avoidance and shite out at the track in Donaldsonville. They had to do that before they could pass their driver's safety class. Took two days

frick the inclusion for people with tickets. Just because I get speeding tickets does not mean I am a bad driver

I agree, Texas has some of the worst drivers I've ever seen.

I agree but the majority of drivers shouldn't have to be retested if they have good driving records
