Lets say you're a member of a community organization that would have conflicting interest with your job but there is no proof it had any affect on you work performance. Should you still be fired?

What sort of "conflicting interests" are we talking about?

Just an example but lets say a person speaks out against abortion but works in an abortion clinic. Should the clinic be able to fire them for it?

"Should" is very nebulous word in this instance. There could be a litany of reasons your boss/company might not want you to become a member of a community organization even if it doesn't have any negative effect on your job performance. For the most part, your employer can fire you for whatever reason they want in the state of Louisiana. Whether they "should" or "shouldn't" is immaterial and is wholly subjective Likewise, you are free to leave that employment for whatever reason you choose (assuming for both that there is no employment contract)

Why would that person be working at an abortion clinic?

They pay is good and couldn't find anything else. Why does that matter?

Absolutely. Why would an employer want to keep an employee who is against the employer's mission? Pretty easy solution to that issue. If you are against abortion, don't work at an abortion clinic. No one is forced to work there

Certainly not. A poster on here, SabiDojo, had to deal with some repercussions simply because he belonged to a MC. No one should have to deal with that.

With an unblemished work record and an asset to the company.

Such a wide spectrum.

Community Organization can mean anything from helping kids with cancer run a lemonade stand or having a klan rally.
