Apologies for the length but i want the full story to be included.

Here is the deal. I left active duty from USMC last year and moved to the reserves, While my VA claim is in the works i decided it would be a good idea to get a temporary job so i don't eat through all my savings. I discovered being so close to base i can make really good money working for Dominos or Papa Johns, so i started applying. I have told all 3 places i am a reservist and have not been hired by any, even though all three have said up front before the initial interview they are desperate for help.

I have a nice car, 2012 and a GPS. I'm no abercrombie model but i am not hideous, especially not with a hat on :P. I used to work for Directv as an installation tech, and a maintenance tech before that, dealing with customers comes naturally to me.

The first Dominos on base Tried to tell me they were " corporate" so my 9 year old DUI disqualified me. After calling corporate to get their policy e-mailed to me i found out not only is that not their policy but the store in question is franchise. after calling their district manager he tried to say it was an on base policy...... i am licensed to drive a HMMWV, and M1A1 main battle tank, the m88 70 ton hercules, and also have my explosives ammunition license... i highly doubt base policy exludes me from transporting pizza..

The 2nd dominoes is outside of base, i applied to both online so they both called me and set up the initial interview. I asked this one up front about the 9 year old DUI, they said it was fine. The interview went well, car inspection. was told i would hear back the following week, nothing.

3rd place. Papa Johns. no online application so i called and asked if she was hiring drivers, she said yes she needs them badly. i asked about the 9 year old DUI, she said it was fine. Went in and filled out the APP on a thursday. She said she should be able to call me back on tuesday after my license got ran. on the way out she asked if i was muilitary because of my hair cut. I told her i used to be active and was a reservist now. i waited until the following friday to call her back. she claimed she hadn't got my license check back but would call me when she heard something. i then waited another week 1/2 and called again. Again she claimed she hadn't gotten my license check back but promised to call when she got it. It has now been 6 weeks.

once again I apologize for the length of the post but I am trying to take this seriously if i decide to pursue it, so i figured details were necessary. Thanks if you took time to read through it.

You think they're discriminating against you because of your veteran status?

At a pizza joint?

Just for clarification you are suggesting that they are discriminating against you because of your military background right?

Do you feel you're being discriminated against because you're ugly or because you have a criminal record?

I am thinking it's because of my reserve status and they don't want to have to deal with scheduling. possible because I am a veteran.

I just lowered my flag to half mast in support of your difficulty finding a job.

Stopped reading there. If a company doesn't hire you, for whatever reason, move on. Most companies have a few more lawyers than you'll hire in a lifetime The state you're in probably protects them legally from being sued for stupid shite.

Uuuuhhhh they literally don't care about that. These are the same people who have to deal with high school bullshite all the time.

Welcome to the work force. No one's hiring even if they say they are. It's all in-fluxed with over educated/ under experienced millennials that are lucky to get a job flipping burgers with a college degree.

It's not you, it's America. Thanks for serving.

From the EEOC website..their listing of discrimination types:

•Age
•Disability
•Equal Pay/Compensation
•Genetic Information
•Harassment
•National Origin
•Pregnancy
•Race/Color
•Religion
•Retaliation
•Sex
•Sexual Harassment

Not sure if what you listed would qualify. Regardless, thank you for your service and good luck.

There are specific laws for discrimination against veterans, but not all veterans are protected.

They don't care about you being in the reserves, they already know pizza drivers will most likely only be there for a few months anyways. I also doubt they would care about a 9 yr old DUI or your looks if you dressed decent. No offense but you must have seemed weird to them if they needed help and didn't hire you when they needed help. I don't know anything about you so I am not judging but from what you have said you must come off as a little off.

I think if you show you REALLY want the job they are going to want to hire you. I don't see why they wouldn't, unless you are really weird or if they really aren't hiring with is a possibility.

I've made the mistake of hiring two marines, both were terrible hires and I will never hire another one. Some of the biggest dumbasses I've met were marines so I'm sure you are being discriminated against. I just don't know if they are profiling you to being a dumbass. Just a guess and basing this on your thread you probably are one that's why you are not getting jobs.
