When I was 16 or 17 I backed over my dog I'd only had like a year. Had to put him down. Was really hard, but he was done for, and just writhing in pain. I think you did the right thing. Better to go out on top than being miserable for years.

What's more humane than a bullet?

I trust myself more than the vet. Not to mention making your dog spend it's last moments at a place it hates.

I guess I'm stooping to your level, but some of you people are real pieces of low life shite. If you can afford monthly internet, lights, electricity, dog food, computer, gun, and bullets, then you can afford under $125 once every 14 years to peacefully and humanely put down a dog.

Yes i read it was your friend, but I'm sure your friend has the above needs/luxuries.

a bullet to the head is as humane a way to go as possible. It's quite instant. You're just grossed out by it.

Dude, you have a lot to learn about this world if that's true.

One aspect I think some who are arguing that this was not "humane" are not taking into account is when this was done. How many vets are open on Christmas night? Do they think it more "humane" to make the dog suffer until the next day for a vet to open his office?

You missed the discussion but it is easy to determine the original poster of the comment. "Slow" was directed at the slow poster only.

Cool. Thanks for the explanation.
My opinion on this is that you did the right thing. The less the dog had to suffer the better it was for the animal. A bullet to the head or a shot from a needle.... they both are quick. I have no problem with it.

Shooting a dog under any circumstance is pretty trashy.

Yeah, poor scruffy was happily chewing on his bone. This was clearly an emergency and needed to be done right away.

So you're good with letting a dog suffer for hours but you oppose an instant and painless death via a bullet to a head just so it can be killed later on by a needle, which unlike the bullet to the head the dog will actually feel. Wow.

If a dog needs to be shot after taking a fatal hit by car, no problem. Shooting a pet with a tumor that you've owned for 14 years, trashy all day long.

So you're good with letting it suffer in pain for hours just so you're not "trashy". Yeah, that's very humane.

I may need your help soon. The only heartless friend I have may have actually gotten attached to our dog. he may not be able to do it.
