Maybe. It doesn’t say if he maybe took one off an officer or how he had it.

Someone failed to search him twice. Once when he was arrested and once he arrived at the station.

Regardless of who they deal with, they should have a policy requiring thorough search of a person in custody. That's police 101.

The article that I read said that the police were prompted to take him to the station... Possible that he pulled the gun when they tried to make the arrest.
