Shell Refinery Convent, LA

Anyone have any info on the Shell Refinery at Convent LA? Good place to work? Bad? Where are close towns other than Gonzales or Donaldsonville to live?

Used to work a lot out of our office on 30 in Geismar about 5 years ago? Sounds like that place is developing a lot.

Just letting you know people call it Motiva Convent around here, not Shell Refinery.
When someone says Shell Refinery, i would assume they are talking about the one in Norco, even though it's actually a chemical plant that is connected to the Motiva Refinery in Norco.

Much like Exxon in Baton Rouge is a chemical plant and a Refinery, they just don't have two names for them like Shell/Motiva.

I can see how that would throw some people if you didn't know Shell=Motiva. When I think of Shell Refinery, I think of Norco too.

Actually Shell in Norco is a chemical plant, they share the facility with Motiva which is the refining side.

I think they do both, both I'm not 100%. There was a Shell chemical refinery in Norco as well, but its now owned by Momentive.

I thought Momentive is a small chemical company.

Shell and Motiva are just about one in the same. Motiva is owned by Shell. In the US most refineries owned by SHell are run by and called Motiva. The chemical plants are usually called Shell.

Shell/Motiva Norco is still Shell Chemical Plant and Motiva Refinery all in one plant.

It's rumored that operators get paid $150,000 a year to watch movies and cook, or so I've heard anyway.

It's a joint venture. Shell owns it all, but for some reason they keep the refining and chemicals arse separate companies. All of the staff are considered Shell employees though. It's weird.
