If you can stand to read this alongside the many bull shite remarks that are void of any substance altogether, consider maybe that while mass is mass there is air in the mixture in a new formulation. Dirt`s usually compacted for obvious reasons then comes out of the hole. If it goes back in the same hole and there is a little excess then this is to be expected. If the wives tale is true it can likely be explained that gravitational pull and air are factors. I feel strongly that these morons are in need of spell check. They might look up the word fluffy if they question the validity of my answer. In times past knowledge sometimes was passed as a method of survival and not to be scoffed at. thank you, Paul G.

That's been a fundamental law of hole digging forever. Of course it's true.

The rare 3-year bump. Freaked me out to see a post by me in a thread I felt I was reading for the first time.

Yep. When calculating quantities for utility or foundation subexcavation backfill, civil engineers always have include the amount of moonlight in their formulas.

I love the good ole 3 year bump of a thread about digging a hole. IMO, it doesn't happen enough.

OP has routinely proven he's a ruhtard.

That's why it's essential to get a good mud level to counterbalance the moon phases.

It's a must.
