Selling stuff on eBay - Who pays the PayPal fee?

I just sold an item on eBay and noticed the buyer did not pay the PayPal fee. Instead I was charged 3% of the final sale price. Isn't the buyer responsible for paying this fee during the transaction? Or is this fee applied to the seller after the sale, and the buyer is not even aware of it? Having to pay this on top of ebay's 10% fee is ridiculous

The buyer doesn't pay shite. You sold it, you pay the transaction costs. If you want to include those fees in your price, up the price.

quote:No. The buyer pays the item's cost and the listed shipping cost. Seller has the PayPal fees deducted from sales proceeds.

Raise the asking price to cover your fee.

The seller always pays the fee. I'm sure most buyers are aware that Paypal charges a fee but they aren't responsible for it. Paypal fees are a cost of selling on ebay and other sites.

You could always convince them you're not a scammer and have them send it via friends and family.

It's customary that the seller *always* absorbs the fee. You are simply another vendor - just like Walmart.

I think you have been thoroughly schooled in this thread.

Always adjust your starting bid or shipping costs to include such fees.
