Just got it detailed so it looks good! It's a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with 121,000 miles on it. I'm selling it myself via craigslist and Facebook. Kelly blue book says private party it's worth $4600. I'm going to put $6000 or best offer on it. Is this smart? Any other advice you guys may have?

If you can find someone willing to pay 6 grand for a used Pontiac, more power to you.

Don't buy a P.O.N.T.I.A.C.

Take the first cash offer you get that's close to that number.

No, it isn't.

Autotrader.com

I've sold a few cars on the site and they were all easy transactions and quick sales.

Two words: Cold Calls.

You need to get to the local phonebook and just start calling folks. It's the one selling method that's been proven effective for nearly a century. If you want to get that extra personal touch, you have to reach out to people so they know you care.

im in no hurry to sell it, so why not put a larger number than what it's worth?

What makes you think potential buyers won't look up the KBB value and see through your little over pricing scheme?

Kind of like someone that thinks polishing a turd with some detail job will get them more money for their shitty car?

Then it wouldn't be a cold call bra. But I will say this, if someone had a smoking deal like that and decided it was important enough to reach out to me personally during dinner, I'd snatch up that Pontiac in a second. Probably give you more than asking price too.

I just bought a new vehicle in BR and the dealer tried to screw me on the trade in. I doubled my money at Texas Auto Direct in Houston. The guys were honest and straight up about how much they would make on vehicle etc.

I got $8500 on a 2008 Honda Accord I bought new back in college. I upgraded to a OT Baller ride..thanks LSU education

when selling vehicles, never put a "solid" number. for example.....never use 6000.00. Use 5995.00 instead. you'd be surprised how many dumbasses will bite on this instead of 6k.

Unless that's a GXP, with leather; roof; and nav, then you're too high on the price. That price is going to scare people away from even calling.
