The only insecurity here is the "physicist" who is trying to stir controversy in the scientific community with this article.
World renowned, globally significant, universally respected, leading theoretical physicist becomes "physicist" when you don't like a finding.

I don't get how one can use theoretical concepts to reach "definitive" conclusions.

what is funnier that a lot of the posters in this thread celebrating this conclusion from this very scientist would absolutely write him off if I started another thread where he states that global warming is settle science

You can't. It's a manipulative, misleading title. It's just click bait as it is presented.

The question of who God is, is a matter of faith. If you're looking for definitive scientific proof of God's identity, you'll never find it. You either choose to believe or you don't.

quote:

The idea here at the core of this theory doesn't come close to vindicating the man made notions of salvation and the afterlife that are at the core of every organized religion. I can buy this guy's theory, but that doesnt make me any closer to subscribing to any religion.

And that's fair. I admit that belief in any religion requires faith. By that I mean it requires one to believe something that cannot be proven. Each person has to come to their own conclusion. And none of us will have the real "proof" if we're right or wrong until we die.

I don't know, but it seems unlikely to the point of irrelevance IYAM. The way the world works don't seem to fit the narrative of any of those religions, without a lot of shoehorning. That so many people still live their lives according to them is a testament to the flexibility of the human mind. Or its gullibility, take your pick.

science is and will always be about "best explanations", not definitive proof.

According to good, real science, there are mathematical probabilities that you could spontaneously phase through the Earth as an 8-foot tall Persian woman.

That isn't the point. The point is that this specific article has a title attached to it which doesn't follow the content of what was actually said in the article. It is click bait. It is obvious. You have to be purposely disingenuous to not see this. It's just a purposely controversial statement to generate buzz. It works.

Saying that you observe a certain order to the universe therefore it makes sense that it had to be intelligently created is not groundbreaking "science." Discussion of the incredibly theoretical fields of string theory and quantum mechanics is not comparable to the much more established fields such as you implied.
