Far from it. I am staunch believer in firm and meaningful consequences for actions within the limits of the law--criminals, disruptive teens, and steroid cops included.

Nah it's called being civilized. I would hope if my kid is disrupting class, I'm given a call and if I want to put a belt to my kid's arse, I can do that on my own accord. Not a tiny-dicked bodybuilding cop purposely flipping my daughter's desk, dragging her by her hair, and throwing her across the room

and believe it or not this was common practice as few a 2 decades ago

IDGAF if she called him every name in the book. If she poses no danger to herself or others, he has been trained to properly deal with the situation. Reassign his arse to the jail.

Coming from the guy who thinks the only way to get a disturbance out of a high school classroom is using unwarranted violent force, that's rich
Your name-calling in this thread has been pretty adorable. That "tuna" insult is really getting under my skin. May I suggest YouTube'ing videos of cops taking down sassy black girls. Your boot-licking fetishes are likely to be satisfied there more than here

i don't enjoy watching it..... but teens who act in a defiant manner against authority figures obviously aren't getting the parenting at home they need... so i don't blame the officer to take it upon himself to show her she's not the boss...
i actually think he should sue the girl and her parent(s) for making him be the enforcer...
in all my years in school not once was an officer or administrator called to a classroom...

Wow
Let's see how the real world will work.
Girl is verbally defiant to officer maybe even called him a cocksucker, don't know. Cop physically removes girl by slamming her desk to the ground and then physically dragging her out of said desk. Cop will be suspended pending investigation. Lawsuit will be filed, cop will be forced to resign and lawsuit will be won in favor of the girl.
That's about how the real world will go.

I am tired of these videos that show police brutality always starting at the last second before the officer goes off.
Where is the 5 mins of her likely being a biotch preceding it?
Still does not justify his actions but it would calm some of the outrage.

I saw nothing wrong what the cop did. I sure to have a teacher to call a cop into a classroom, there was more then enough reason the cop did what he had to do.

Girl got in a fight with a boy I believe. She was asked to leave the classroom by the teacher and then subsequently asked to leave by the vice principal. She refused both times. The officer went to pick up her desk at which point she straightened her legs out causing it to flip. The then pulls her out, not by the hair and not flinging her all around the classroom.
No problem with what the officer did as someone needed to do it. It's because of the "outrage" over this that causes all the problems in schools. Kids know they have carte blanche to do whatever they want. We all say that we wouldn't want them doing that to our kids, but let's be real, our kids would never act like that. It's the thugs and trash who need it but get to get away with it.

I'd probably react like that too if I had to deal with students like that everyday. We all have an idea of what kind of student she probably is.
But hey, now she will be turned into a hero of the SJW community, her mom will be paid a lot of money in the settlement, and the cops life will be ruined.
Calling the resource officer into the classroom isn't a first or second option...it is one of the last options. Clearly she was being a huge problem if he was even there.

No one is excusing her behavior. One can be against criminal behavior and disruptive students AND police abuse of power simultaneously.

Probably. ANd this would be because of the choices the cop made

Sure, that works when it's a parent who gives a shite. But I can tell you story after story of kids who are out of control in a classroom and the parents don't answer or they flat out block the school's number. We've physically taken kids home who were suspended and had the parent at the front door say "It's not 2:20 yet, they're your problem".

It was too much force. If she was defiant to the point he had to snatch her up, then they're both in the wrong. I'd still take an SRO in my building majority of the time but there needs to be training specific to dealing with students.

So what are teachers supposed to do in the meantime when their jobs are on the line if this kid doesn't adhere to some pretty basic classroom rules? Yeah it'll eventually catch up with them, but is it supposed to just be brushed under the rug? Ok, so you throw a detention at them. If it continues you suspend them. And then the district is up your arse over your suspension numbers and if it's an ECE/Special Ed kid then it better not be more than 10 days for the year either or parents are screaming lawsuit for "unfair treatment" of their child. And inevitably that kid is still sitting in your classroom acting like an arse because they know that the district won't back you in having them removed.
The force in the OP was way too much, but it's naïve to think that in this day and age that a police presence isn't needed at some of these schools.
