I found a thread on Reddit, but haven't seen it here yet. Has anyone else here had their number obtained by scammers claiming to be Main Street Financial and calling 5-6 times per day?

These frickers are relentless. They call with a robo-message claiming to offer debt consolidation services. The kicker is except for my house and 2 cars, I have no debt. If you block their number, they just spoof the next one in the series. I've had to turn my phone to silence callers not in my contact list. I've filed complaints with the FCC and at do not call.gov, but I doubt anything will happen. If you try to engage with them to tell them to stop calling, they just cuss you out.

I tried to do some research and looked up Main Street Financial and they have this at the top of their website as a message to all visitors. Apparently these scammers are hitting tons of people.

quote:

For those receiving multiple daily calls from a "Main Street Financial" regarding debt consolidation from (855) area code number or other numbers. THIS IS NOT OUR FIRM. We wholeheartedly detest the abuse of telecommunications and are working to stop these calls as well.

Report the caller’s number(s) directly to Federal Trade Commission www.donotcall.gov and visit LINK to file a report and learn helpful tips.

I silenced all calls that aren't in my contacts list several months ago. Highly recommend it.

the email spoofing thing thru dropbox has exploded lately. One of my guys got hacked and they sent a Dropbox link out to everyone in his outlook contact list

it’s getting ridiculous

I activated a feature on my iPhone 13 which blocks all calls, unless they are on my contact list, or from a number to which I have previously placed a call.

I get 3-4 calls a day from an 866 and 855 number. Like you, I block the numbers and I still get the calls from different numbers. I just reject the calls and they always leave a robo voicemail. It does get annoying but I try my best to just ignore it.

I had a number come up as my mortgage company and the person was very insisting that I make a payment over the phone with them, but I always have my payments auto draft each month. They were clearly mad I wasn't going to make a payment over the phone. I called the mortgage company back to complain and they claim they never call over the phone for payments, they direct people to their website to post payments.

I haven't recently, but for a while I was inundated with calls asking if I was interested in selling my house. Before that, it was Indians from "American Pharmacy" trying to sell me discount Viagra.

This most likely due to tax season and the fake IRS calls. My phone screens any unknown or spam listed number so the only thing I usually see is the 2 second voicemail of them hanging up.

Keep them on the phone for a long time to waste their time. They will stop calling you when it starts costing them money.

I might get one spam call per month. But, I don't answer any number I don't recognize.
