Have Uverse TV and internet currently, but DirecTV left a flyer on my front door advertising AT&T Fiber internet packaged with DirecTV at 2 year locked in price that would be about $40/month cheaper than I pay now with similar TV channel package and a much faster internet speed.

My only concern is satellite going out every time it rains. I've never had satellite TV before so don't know how easily this happens. What says the OT?

Only person I know that has DirecTV has issues with signal loss when the weather gets bad. But I know he's had that dish for probably 8-10 years and I've read online that newer equipment configured properly almost never lose signal unless its really severe weather. Just curious if anyone here can vouch from experience if thats accurate

I've got a few friends of mine that have it and say it goes out but whenever I'm there, it works fine. Don't know if it's location or not but I don't get all the hate for it. I just signed up for Direct TV Now today and I absolutely love it.

I wouldn't hit a dog in the butt with a Directv receiver. They suckkkkkk soooooooo bad especially after AT&T bought them out.Terrible customer service, and you better watch your billing, they have a funky system now where they charge you for service you haven't even received yet, so that your bill is grouped in with the next bill and they say your current bill is double what is actually is. Shady tards right there. I live out in the country, so I am switching over to Dish this weekend and see if their service is any better. Will NEVER use Directv again. So, in conclusion, I would advise going with them.

It does go out on occasion but the picture you will get with DirecTV is the best out there

doesn't go out nearly as much as people act like it does. It does go out occasionally. If it goes out frequently, then the dish isn't properly set. Has to be very thick clouds/hard rain to knock out properly set dish. Been raining here off and on all afternoon and hasn't gone out once.

Love mine and it rarely goes off. It has to be a bad storm. When it does it's usually back on in 5 or 10 mins.

Did it go out in today's weather?

At first glance, the flyer offer seems like a lot better deal than my current package. $40 cheaper, TV for 4 rooms instead of 3, similiar channel package, 20x faster internet. But its a 2 year contract with a pretty big ETF so want to do due diligence before deciding whether to switch

I have had Direct for about 5 years. We canceled on Tuesday. My bill was getting too high and we got a good deal on a bundle from another provider. Direct called my wife yesterday and eventually took our bill down from $114 to $30 for 12 months, plus a $200 Visa gift card.

I have both dish and directtv. One at my house and one at my camp. My directTV goes out more often then Dish does, but I have a couple of trees near the dish that I blame it on. Dish very rarely goes out, as in maybe 3-4 times a year and its for no more than a minute of two. I work from home leave the TV on for background noise, it didn't go out at all today with all the rain we had. Dish has been cheaper, and when the charges start to creep they're real good about adjusting the bill back down.

Or it could be Cox. . .

. . .going out 3 to 4 times a week.

. . .in perfect weather.

In Walker during the flood, I had TV. Cox was out with the first cloud.

You mean after Gustav when the weather cleared but some lines were down.

Good point. DaveTV is ok after a hurricane.
