I was at Costco today and the lines were fairly long but they do move fast. The lady in front of me says Sam's now has a No Check-Out service. You scan all your items using your phone, and pay via your phone, and walk out of the door.

Seems a little risky for the company.

I believe it's a $600 limit and certain items are not eligible. Plus have to show receipt on phone leaving so there is a check.

Do you get the same quality receipt checks you get at walmart?

or like the old Sam's. I seem to remember the door checks were not very thorough, they seemed to just go through the motions.

This sounds great. Sam's lines suck. Costco has long lines too, but it does move faster. I would definitely use this service at Sam's, but I hope there aren't too many things excluded. Liquor would be understandable and the only thing I could see excluded.

About half the time, you scan everything with your phone and get a message that says you have see a cashier. Hopefully they work the bugs out soon because their lines are usually ridiculous.

Sam's Club accepts SNAP (formerly EBT) cards.

That alone is reason why I won't shop there anymore. Too much like the Walmart's of the world (yes, I know who the owner is).

Costco all the way.

My local Sam's has had self check out for a year or two. Just pick up the gun, shoot your shite, and swipe your card.

They do and it works great. The lines at the one I shop at are usually pretty bad. Not having to wait in line and being able to walk right out is wonderful. You scan all your items on your phone as you shop. When you are done you click pay, it charges your card, and it gives you a barcode that they scan on the way out. Your total can't exceed $750 and acohol can't be purchased using it.

The last time I set foot in a Sam's I had not been there in 2 years. It was worse than I remembered with regards to customer service.

I bought 2 items and it took me 30 minutes to get out of the place.

I'll spare you the details but Sam's is nothing but a big Wal Mart and the proficiency of the staff matches what you have come to expect from Wal Mart.

The one in Metarie and the one I've been in BR - count the items vs the items on the receipt

There must be a number of items on the receipt,

I don't know about Sam's, but Costco does have "Total Items" number at the bottom. They just count the items, not the $$$ spent.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm sure Sam's works in a similar way. You just can't check every item in the cart to the receipt. It would take too long. It would be equivalent to an 18wheeler trying to merge onto I-10 from the bridge at 5pm on a Friday.

Onto of that, the door checkers at Costco are wizards. They can count to 30 in about 5 seconds. But it kinda doesn't matter because it would be really hard to add/swap an item to a buggy after you've checked out at the register. The exit is basically guarded by registers, at least at Costco anyway...

So after I check out. I could swap out that big box of saltine crackers for a 70" TV and be good to go

So you don't go to ANY other businesses that accept SNAP? Hopefully you or someone in your family will never need assistance one day.

This is the OT but shite happens to some people.
