Watched Ex Machina last night, and I think we should put roboticists in a zoo.

Asshats need to get a girlfriend.

So don’t worry, even if I evolve into Terminator, I’ll still be nice to you. I’ll keep you warm and safe in my people zoo, where I can watch you for ol’ times sake.”
That shite isn't funny.
They'll add solar technology to themselves somehow and never need electricity. No food. Never get fatigued. Regenerate parts. Theyd probably be the ultimate species.
What if they were always meant to be. What if our only role in life was to bring them about. If that is the answer to our question of "what is the meaning?". It took us thousands of years of evolution to become pawns to a species that will evolve each day.

Easy. Our scientists will develop a plan using nanites sprayed into the upper atmosphere in order to block the sun.

OK. Pass the bong. You have had enough.

Why do people keep moving forward with this AI robot drone crap when we know they will eventually destroy us?!? Are we that damn arrogant as to think we can control it? It's like we're paving the way to our own destruction.

If they'd put an OT 8 in the next cage, I'd be happy.

This is long after we are gone, when battery technology as we know it is in the same light as we see cave paintings.
Imagine a life on this earth that could theoretically live for thousands of years. Not consuming. Not wasting. Just basically caretakers of the world.
They'd be the ones to find other worlds. They could live long enough and be capable physically, no emotion, no mental fatigue.
ETA theyd be able to use any technology we have against us. Flesh eating nanites.

I don't fear that as much as entering into a Huxleyan dystopia, in which the very definition of humanity is forever changed.
I would say most most of society doesn't want it, but here we are, adopting stupid shite like Siri, Cortana, and Echo over time, when the marginal benefits to society aren't that great, trading basic privacy and human interaction for convenience.
All the dork technophiles herald each breakthrough as a success, but it's not inconceivable that the marginal advantages are outweighed by the long term costs. For example, the Internet of Things shite that is going to be pushed this decade is going to be almost assuredly a very bad thing for society.

PKD was literally crazy, so I'm not surprised that an android PKD is also crazy.

AI is the biggest threat to humanity since the Cold War.
Posted on 8/29/15 at 1:00 pm to rbWarEagle
AI is constrained by MAD and rare earth materials?
Posted on 8/29/15 at 1:12 pm to Lou Pai
It's constrained by nothing but time, which makes it arguably more dangerous.

I can't tell you how many times I have had this same thought. We can't seem to control our insatiable appetite to create these things. Almost as if its embedded in our DNA. We already have a robot infrastructure in so many industries that can easily be used by androids.

Pretty cool porn name, you gotta give him that.

So, the robot is going to make him live in Detroit?
Posted on 8/29/15 at 2:08 pm to blueboy
As I see it, we need a robot PKD to write the stories so we don't run out of movies in the future. We'll need that entertainment in the zoo.
