Put yourself in that situation with all of the adrenaline flowing and your wife next to you. Doyle thought there were three guys in the truck chasing him to his house. One guy gets out, runs at him, and......it's decision time. Either you and your wife, or the guy running at you.

Who's to say that Gonzalez wouldn't have beat him to a pulp had he not had a gun? Gonzalez got out, went towards him, and then turned and ran away when Doyle started shooting

I had someone follow me for about 15 miles one day because they almost rear ended a car trying to dive bomb me pulling up to a red light. I took them on a scenic tour and eventually was able to get behind them in a shopping center with some tricky maneuvers. I followed them for about a minute and went home.

They usually overcharge and plea down... he'll prob get manslaughter and maybe a couple of years. Or he might end up with probation... never know w/ this fricked up system.

This, at least the guy was on his property. Seth Fontenot only got 13 months and he shot at a car off his property traveling away from him.

Way to take my words out of context bro. I said if you're standing your ground then you can do that, only if there's ground involved and only if you're standing it.

Hell if you stand your ground hard enough you could get in a road rage and kidnap someone and take them back to your rape dungeon. The law is pretty clear.

I get it...you got me baw.

I'm standing my ground right now.

Oh, he was running now? How many other facts are you making up that don't pertain to what happened here?

We have a witness that says Gonzales was backing away when he was first shot and we have the cops saying he has three entry wounds in his back.

Sorry but Doyle wasn't protecting himself at all if either of these things are true.

we also have 911 tape of Gonzales saying that he wanted to whip Doyle's arse....

Gonzalez got what he asked for..he should have listened to his wife when she said lets go home

On the other hand - anyone who comes onto my property in an aggressive posture, I must assume has bad intentions and the means to carry them out - I might shoot first and ask questions later under similar circumstances.

Neighbor comes over pissed off telling Ace to clean the shite up. Ace shoots neighbor w/o considering why man is pissed. One less JJ Abrams Star Trek fan in the world. The perfect crime!

If someone follows me home over road rage, you best believe I am pulling a gun out when they come up my driveway.

Do I actually pull the trigger? Only if I feel that brandishing a firearm isn't solving the situation.

If I'm being followed and am scared for my life I drive to the nearest police station while calling 911.

I certainly don't shoot a man in the back multiple times after I've popped a cap in his chest.

What a senseless way for someone to die.
Let your egos go people when it involves road rage.
It's not worth dying over.

victims wifes 911 call tells alot.. she was joking and laughing about the situation and her husband was acting like a hard arse and thought they was going to go one up this "little old man". Not saying doyle was right, but gonzalez is the reason he is dead.

Doyle wasn't even on his own property when this happened. He shot Gonzalez while on his neighbor's property. Doyle is fricked, and he should be.

ETA: Gonzalez was stupid as well, but Doyle was aggressive with his gun in hand.

Did he go home? Nope
Did he stay in his truck? Nope
Did he open the door and stand there? Nope

It's obvious he went after Doyle, or he wouldn't have had room to run back. Doyle stopped the car and told his wife to put it in park multiple times. Plenty of time for Gonzalez to get to him, and keep in mind that Doyle thought two other men were in the truck.

To top it all off, Gonzalez did all of this with his entire family in the car. He put his family in danger because of his ego

If I'm shooting someone, I'm not just trying to hurt them. I'm shooting until he ain't moving.

Maybe Gonzalez could've been running to get a gun out if his truck (hypothetical). In a confrontation like that, you've got to neutralize the threat completely.

Doyle's only downfall was that one sentence. IMHO, he has a 50/50 chance of getting convicted of manslaughter. No chance he gets convicted of murder if he gets a good lawyer. He feared for his and his wife's life, and did what his instinct told him was necessary to protect him/her

Where did he say that? The only quote I read along these lines came from Doyle when he said...

quote:

"No, I'm going home, the gun's coming out and going to his (expletive) head," said Doyle on the 911 call.

quote:

Gonzalez got what he asked for..he should have listened to his wife when she said lets go home

He was a dumbass for putting himself and his wife and kids into that dangerous situation. That still does not change the fact that Doyle shot an unarmed man who was backing away from him multiple times including three times in the back.

Doyle wasn't on his own property. It's indefensible.
