Ive got a 2021 4Runner, that is shaking at 60 + MPH.

40,000 miles, K2 tires. Tires have been rotated 3 times.

Ive read that it is a common issue with 4Runners, and a "road force" balance is often a cure.

"a road force tire balancer uses a load-roller to simulate the force of the road and gather data on the combined uniformity of a wheel and tire package"

Anybody dealt with this on a 4Runner ?

So far I have called Firestone tires, NTB, and Chabills and none do the road force balancing.

Anyplace in BR that does this ?

there's a shimmy, sometimes referred to as a "death wobble" by Jeep nerds, also common in F-250s that's associated with the suspension, drag link, steering damper, tie rods, maybe ball joints, just had the wife's Jeep in for that, done in a day for about a grand

That is under warranty even if out of warranty. They fricked you. Jeep settled a lawsuit on it a few months ago

I have a Tundra. Don’t know what a road force alignment is. But I do know you need a competent front e nd man to do a Toyota. They have eight adjustments on one wheel.

Your stabilizer bar can cause shimmy as unevenly worn brake rotors can. I changed the rubbers on my stabilizer and cured a shake one time.

"Death wobble" is way different than a shimmy. Anyone who has actually experienced death wobble will 100% confirm.

A shimmy is just an aggravating shake. Death wobble is dangerous and immediately damaging to suspension parts.

I believe Discount tire has the hunter machine for road force balancing.

I used to have a class c RV that had to get the front wheels balanced like that.

The entire rotating assembly (hub, brake disc, half shafts, etc) is included in the balancing when spinning the whole assembly.

Most large truck shops and RV service shops do it this way also.

Try AGCO on Coursey Blvd. Think they do Road Force balancing.

More than likely the shop you took it to didn't have the adaptor for Toyotas to properly perform a balance, may not have even known that it existed. Have had two Tacomas and one 4Runner, seen it a couple of times. Take it somplace else.

I thought Discount Tire on Airline did this. I’m curious myself as I have an ‘18 4Runner that’s very noisy with a little wobble, although I put it down to not rotating the tires when I should. I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on mine.

I guess that's the price I pay for only getting involved with her Jeep when it needs something, I almost think it's worth it to not have to deal with the Jeep dealer

A

death wobble, violent shimmy, whatever, they had the exact same characteristics in the Jeep and in the F-250

Toyota 4x4s have more adjustments than other 4x4s. Need a shop that is familar with Tacoma/4runner front ends.
I have a tacoma and am looking at getting a Lexus GX/Toyota Fortuner first gen to make an overlanding vehicle.

Tires on a truck need to rotated more than every 13000 miles. A lot more. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that you have cupped tires that need replaced.

Yota has IFS, not SAS. Death wobble doesn't occur in an IFS suspension.

AGCO and Tri-Care dont do road force balancing.

Dont want to have to deal with the dealer. Got it at Team Toyo.
