The insurance company will pay out a depreciated amount on the claim with the rest to be paid when the work is completed. For example
$10,000 Insurance estimated roof replacement.
$ 2500 Depreciation
$ 1000 Deductible
$ 6500 First Check
Lets say you get the work done for $9000 taking into account the previous example and you send the insurance the $9000 invoice.
$9000 for completed work
$1000 Deductible
$1500 pay out of Depreciation
You left $1000 on the table and the roofer probably cut corners on your job..

This is useless on an insurance claim, the homeowner's policy is an indemnity policy. The homeowner is not going to make a profit, the roofer is going to work for insurance proceeds and the recoverable depreciation will insure that the homeowner does not pocket any money, unless the roofer is your friend or performing fraudulent activities...
This..
New law was passed in August that focuses on this. Detailing that any covering of deductible or submitting inflated invoices is fraud

Looking for hail damage is a skill that you have to learn. It takes lots of experience and even then opinions can vary...
I don't think it takes a skilled eye to see this kind of damage...

If only they would only listen and try to stop gaming the system...

Didn't realize that actual paper bills had to be submitted now. Guess that's another insurance lobby victory.

I will put you in the category of someone that has committed insurance fraud in the past...

I wish I could remember but I don't recall his name. I've had four or five roofers since then to take a look so all the names have meshed together in my head now.
He even told me the metal patio cover in the back didn't have damage either - well it's covered in dents .

We try to be very honest in our inspection and not have people call in unnecessary claims but it's also not in our best interest to turn away potential business on legitimate damage. If you want another inspection I'll send someone.

Doing so would put you closer to defamation than I have ever been to committing insurance fraud.

We/I will NOT do it,My ex sister in law pocketed 5
K. from Insrance. I told I was not gonna be a part of it.
I have been in the area some areas were hit harder than others, I have told some homeowners, there was no damage to there roof , others have moderate. I won't suggest a homeowner to call and open claim if all the have is splatter on there roof.
My reputation is at stake with the adjuster!
