Replacement Window question?

Thinking of replacing some windows at home. I like the functionality/idea of double hung windows, but what is too big for this style?
Im talking a few at 36 x 84 windows and a few 36 x 96 windows.
Would the top sash be too heavy and too hard to manage to use the tilt in feature for cleaning? and would the top sash be too heavy to trust to stay up when venting from the top down?
Thoughts...

I have not personally dealt with that, but I would imagine that the sizes you mention would be just too hard to handle...

You can do a free 90 day trial of Windows 10 to see if you like it

I think in a vinyl window it will be ok.
I m thinking about using new construction windows and just removing the nail fin
I don't like the wide frame on most replacement windows

Call Ben at "The Glass Guru" of Baton Rouge. He was honest with me and I've also done some side work for him.
Tell him Juice sent you.

No pro, so I can't speak to the size.
Double hung windows are for upper stories where you can't clean from a ladder. They are a waste of money on the ground floor. There are some removable bottom sashes that tilt in that make a better seal insulation wise.

How tall are your walls??
Are the Windows you want to replace the same size?(as existing)

What brands you looking at? Where have you been to look in town? If in Baton Rouge, id stay away from La Maison Complete. I had a terrible experience dealing with those guys.

Yes the replacement windows will be the same size as original. Walls are 11' (96" window) and 10' (84")

I've looked at vinyl replacements.
Wincore and NT have been the 2 brands.
Relief Windows uses one and General Window the other.

A good window shop can replace just the panes. Especially if the frames aren't extremely old(like 20 yrs+) I'm sure they could even make them double hung, unless your Windows now are just a picture window. In that case, you have 2 options. Have a reto, custom window made to fit in the existing frame or demo out the old Windows.

Call LAS or Paul Mainieri.
Paul does window commercials for them.

they're ugly, and without a nailing flange, the only line of defense is caulk.

Replaced all windows are my house - used Window World.
House was built in 85 so change was needed. Very happy with them. Not sure about sizes you're asking about.
