See if the price changes if you tell them that you'll be picking up some "relatives" near a border town and bringing them to the big city.

Pretty sure a lot of car dealerships rent passenger vans. But obviously couldn't drop off at a different location.

Why does different location jack it up so much? Both spots are major international airports.

Because each location needs to maintain a certain type of fleet/availability and you're messing that up.

A lot of rental locations are franchised as well. So that owner of the van eventually has to get their vehicle back.

We had 15 people in a rented transit tonight. It was...ok on comfort level in the back, and a decently nice vehicle.

However, the seats were surprisingly narrow, the rear can be hard to navigate for anyone larger than 190 lbs, or over 6', and there was only about 6 inches of luggage space behind the rear seats.

We have the 12 passenger transit..more storage room in the back..I'm only 5'7 at 185lbs and sit pretty comfortable in the middle seats..they do recline somewhat so you are not stuck in a straight upright position. Car seats fit easily in the first row if they are back facing seats. Back facing seats can't fit in any other rows due to being too close..only front facing seats can fit in any of the other rows. The seats sit high up so it's not ?? your legs would be too squished and there is room to put small bags under the seats in the rows.

Thanks! I just might do that as the time gets closer (supposed to be mid-summer.)

I'm hoping to have 8-9 people in the 12 seater...presumably the rear seats can be collapsed/moved around for more luggage room? How did it drive?

I'm planning on taking a long road trip with a big group of people next year and wanted to rent something like a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter. Any advice? On sites like Enterprise I'm finding them in the $240/day range

how many days are you planning on having it? might be cheaper to buy a used one then sell it after you use it than paying $250/day for a couple of weeks.

If you can finagle a way to rent at Nationwide then drop off at a joint Enterprise lot you may can avoid mileage fees. Works depending on your final destination.

I rented a 15 passenger van for 12 people. The people fit well, but there was only enough room for about five people's luggage.

We needed another vehicle to haul the luggage.

I just rented a 15 passenger Ford fan from enterprise, only had 8k miles. It was close to $600 for 3 days, and that was with a discount my buddy got me, who runs an enterprise

Update: got a good deal based on some advice in this thread. New question: does anyone know about driving these vans into Canada. I ask because my local Enterprise people said that they do not allow it and it is forbidden in general. But when I rented from Avis, I asked specifically and they said no problem. The rental agreement says no restrictions. All you have to do is make sure they gave you a non-resident insurance card for Canada to carry with you. Still, scared I will get to the border and be turned away. Anyone?

Are you in AAA? Hertz gives a 10% discount for that.

About a mile before you get to the border, have everyone get out and roll around in the dirt. Then claim to be refugees fleeing and seeking refuge in Canada. They said they are taking in all refugees, so there's your loop hole
