Nevermind I read instructions wrong. A drift apparently is a tool and not a typo for drill. That cleared things up. Though I wish they had just said "punch" which is the more common term for the tool.

Titanium carbide unobtanium rivets holding window regulators in place.

Seriously who the hell uses rivets to hold something that needs to be changed so often in place?? Couldn't use bolts like a normal car company?

So you have to use their service to get it repaired.

Company's have been doing this for years on wear items.

I think Cadillac had a car a few years back you had to remove the entire engine to replace some of the spark plugs

Wasn't it actually a Ford, had to remove the cab to access it?

Chrysler also had cars in the early 2000s that required removing a tire to change the battery. The list goes on and on and on. Manufacturers are attempting to make even the simplest of car maintenance require special tools and equipment.

Dude we've got a 1999 F250 still rolling ... NOTHING but regular maintenance .. AND my husband cleaning out the a/c (got almost a 5 gallon bucket full of dirt as it was a farm truck).

Think has 250k miles and never had a problem. Current 2010 has almost 125 (F150, farm use) and never had a days problem with it either.

Nothing new, 1973 Mercury Comet with the V-8, #4 cylinder (rear on the passenger side) spark plug needed the engine mounts to be undone to change.

I'm an idiot I love FOrd.

I read the instructions and it said use a 1/4" drift. I thought it was a misprint and meant drill. Once I gooogled drift and found out it was a synonym for a hole punch I had all the rivets out in a minute and had he new regulator put back in.

Was misplaced anger. Sorry Henry, you started a great company. My second Ford is solid.

Yeah, the stratus, my neighbor had one. That was odd to change the battery.

I had a Jaguar and changing the rear discs involved taking apart the rear end.

This was my first time ever fooling with rivets. Went to HF and got me a new rivet gun and all. Wasn't hard now that I know you can't drill pinned rivets out, have to knock the pin out.

Oh parents also had a Sport trac, you needed to remove tire to get to one of the spark plugs, that was a pain.

All you gotta do is drill it out and pop in a new one or replace it with a bolt.

My '03 Nissan Murano that I drove while in school was like this. I think it may have been 3 of them you couldn't get to without dropping the engine.
