Montana at 18 is surprisingly low. Outside of interstates and some of the highways, the roads are as garbage as you’d expect a low population state with mountains and severe winters to be. You go through at least one windshield a year.

Figured Alabama would at least be bottom half.
They apparently didn't drive I 59 North.

There are some places on 72/565 going through Huntsville that are like trail riding.

I’ve been to many states and Louisiana is not 8th. They’re 48-50th just like every other ranking

Hell I spent a lot of time in Death Valley and the paved roads out there are better than any in New Orleans.

The roads in Death Valley are better than many Louisiana roads

Been all over the west, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. Louisiana has the worst roads of any state I've ever personally been too, and it's not close.

I just came home last month for a two week visit after a whole year in San Jose, and the state of the roads in Louisiana was a shock. Just utter garbage, no matter where you go.

Man, I feel like Rhode Island should be known for having good roads.

2. Rhode Island

How is that fricking possible?I was expecting some mountain or rural states, but really, Rhode Island? Florida literally has higher elevation than it and may be a thousand times larger than it. How fricking pathetic. The Denver metro area is bigger than Rhode Island. I’m willing to bet it takes less time to drive from end to end of that state than it takes to get from downtown Denver to the Denver airport at rush hour.

I’m surprised CA is up there.

Never driven over there but that just seems surprising is all

Obviously you’ve never driven in LA. It’s position is well deserved. Definitely didn’t expect it out of the Top 5.
