The W has 100% financing. The W Poydras is about to get turned into a Le Meridian. Both are done deals.

I wish they would have tore down the WTC and built a really unique building. Like the sydney opera house it to sydney or the Gherkin is to London...

Of course it's a good industry to have, but there is alot more going on in N.O. other than tourism.

Well the film industry is an obvious example. But I'd also include the medical industry as well as the recent influx of young entrepreneurs being drawn to the area.

Google and find several of the articles written by national publications over the last 3 years about the great things happening in N.O.
It's no Houston or Atlanta and it never will be, but people need to get this one trick pony about N.O. and tourism out of their head.

Speaking of medical, holy shite are those people working on the VA thing moving fast. The area in between Claiborne and Carondelet is primed for some redevelopment next. Especially when the finished that assisted living project on canal (I forget what building they are renovating.

Yep. And Tulane has finally started picking up steam with being gentrified.

Irish Channel in the next 10 years too. God, NOLA has so much to offer. I will never understand the BR vs NOLA thing here. BR is literally crap.

If BR taxed at the rate that NOLA did they would have some nice shite.

BR lacks mass transit that makes sense and no central location of the city.

It is all really exciting. Very reminiscent of the time leading up to the oil collapse in the 1980's where shite just couldn't get built fast enough. However as others have mentioned much more diverse economic base now.

BR lacks more than that. Literally, everything.

Won't get in that argument, but safe to say you either don't know or dismiss what BR has to offer.

This is what I was getting at. There are alot of small tech companies popping up. GE Technology opened a division office here. International Shipholdings announced a few weeks ago that they are moving their headquarters here.

Hopefully the bio-district and small medical businesses are still planning to come in as the hospitals get closer to being finished.

I'd like to know. Only time I ever go to BR is for LSU related things. Would like to know what I'm missing.
