Went to Best Buy. They had a "get a free pair of surround sound speakers when you buy a new home theater receiver" deal. I didn't really care about the speakers because I already had some but they are free.

When I went to check out the speakers came up at their regular price. The girl called the manager over who put in his code and told her to "Just change it to a penny"

The girl screwed up and changed the receiver price to 1 penny.

So I got a $500 receiver and pair of surround sound speakers for the cost of the $70 surround sound speakers that I didn't even want.

A microwave & refrigerator from a big box store. They initially charged my card, then refunded it for no reason a month later. I called multiple times to tell them, and each time they insisted they couldn't see the refund. Kept saying they'd investigate & have someone call me back, but nobody ever did. And each time I called, they acted completely baffled. I finally gave up. I can't make them take my money.

Damn. That's a hell of a deal. I'd also try and make sure it was paid for, but you can only try so much.

I've forgotten that I have a pack of bottled water on the bottom of my cart a few times. Don't ever realize it till I'm packing up the car.

Was it the one off Coursey and Stumberg? They hire a lot of people with mental disabilities. I think that's really good of them.

Accidentally shop lifted an 8-pack of AA batteries when I was a teen. Stuck them in my jacket while looking for other stuff and completely forgot about them. It's no free receiver though.

Went to Walmart several months back to get stuff for a football party, put two cases of bud on the bottom run of the buggy and forgot them while checking out.

As I'm going out of the front door I notice them and say screw it, free beers :)

I was going to walmarks for a few things and I grabbed one of those collapsible wagons to pull the cooler for Mardi Gras. Cart had a bunch of stuff in it so I put it on the bottom. I didn't notice til I was walking out that the cashier missed it so it was free.

Agreed in full. That puts the "Win" in Winn-Dixie!

And I still got a handy.

Free furniture from Ashley about 10 years ago. We bought a house and went there to get couches and end tables for the upstairs den. Had delivery scheduled a week after we closed. When we were actually moving I asked the movers if they thought a full length couch would go up the stairs. 3 steps up then a landing and a 90 degree turn. They tried it with our couch and even taking the rails off the wall it wasn't going to work. I had bought a couch for the downstairs, a couch and loveseat for upstairs, and a set with a coffee table, two end tables, and a sofa table. I called to cancel the couch and loveseat.

The other stuff was delivered as scheduled. They were running some 12 months same as cash financing and when I got the bill it showed the initial purchase and then a full refund. They forgot to put the other couch and tables back in. I called 3 different times to tell them. The first time they said thanks for letting us know and it will show up on your next months bill. A month later the same thing. A month after that I called again. When the bill came the fourth month with zero balance I just called and cancelled the store card and chalked it up to them being idiots and I got about $1,200 in free furniture.

Had other stuff so I didn't notice until I got home and looked at receipt.

At academy there was an official NFL football packaged in the cardboard box they put on the ones that get loose. It was priced at $16.99 because someone there thought it was the cheap replicas every store sells. They typically run about $100.

Scooped that bitch up.

I think the OP was meaning more "what free things have you gotten due to the store screwing up at the register" as opposed to stealing.

It's still stealing.
