Question for OT Geographers

Why isn't Greenland a continent? It's huge. Bigger than Australia and South America. It's about the same size as North America and Africa. Can any resident map geek explain this injustice?

Africa 11.67 million sq miles (30.22 million km²)

North America 9.54 million sq miles (24.71 million km²)

I want to know why Europe and Asia are two continents. I bet most folks wouldn't know when you left one and entered the other.
