Outside breaker switch for oven keeps tripping. The oven is not on and it is not raining. Any idea what is causing this? Tripped twice today already and did this again about a month ago.

Thanks in advance for any response.

The outlet the oven is plugged into may need to be changed.
It's a quick change. You'll need either a flat head or Phillips head screwdriver and a new receptacle. Just make sure you turn off the breaker before you change the outlet.

If it's bad wiring (frayed, shorts out from time to time) or a fault internal to the oven then you don't want to keep resetting the breaker.

If you're handy and have the right tools, disconnect wiring from the breaker and ohm it out. If you're not call an electrician.

Or it could be a bad breaker. Depending on the type you can pick one up at Lowes/Home Depot and swap out (same caveat as above).

You probably have an electricity leak and just need a new flux capacitor

Actually sounds like your breaker is bad, not a job for a novice, call a professional

why isn't your oven on? You should be cooking up the evening's slop by now.

Either the breaker is bad or you have a short somewhere, either with the wire or at the receptacle. It could be a possible short inside of the oven as well.

Are we talking about a 50 amp breaker tripping when the oven if off? Is it a range or just an oven? Is it plugged in or hardwired?

Hard wired. It's just an oven. I think it was a 20 or 30 amp. Thought it made a little funny sound the first time I clicked the breaker back on outside so I'm thinking it could be s bad connection. I don't like messing with electricity.

I had the same issue with a stove and it was the breaker.
Noticed there were 2 other replacements in the panel
Ended up changing the entire panel because it was almost 50 yrs. old.

If the oven was off and it made a sound at all, you have a connection or oven problem. You should not have any load(noise) when resetting the breaker with the oven off.

Fo the electricians, how does a whole Home surge protector work?

I picked up one at Lowe's since it was in the clearance bin. It was marked down from $75 to $6.

So I figured 'why not' It just needed a dedicated 50 amp. So it has two legs going to it from a 50 amp and then a neutral and a ground going to the bus bar.

Is this just for show, how exactly can it protect the whole house from a surge?

Does it trip when the oven is on as well ?

How did you know it tripped if it was not even on ?

What made a sound when you turned it on , the Breaker ?

I suspect a bad connection where breaker connects to the buss bar.
