might as well take it while you are in study mode and have everything pretty fresh from college. Its a pain in the arse to study for after being out of school for 5 years. I don't agree with the rule at all but if you can take advantage of it, go for it.

Did you go to grad school with no experience? If so, then yes

FWIW, I plan on going back to grad school in a few years

That's my thought

Bourg- I got the advisor I wanted, the funding I wanted, and the research I wanted. I'm happy with my decision. Classes are super easy so far.

Civil. I wanted to do this since before college and I'm right on schedule.
Everyone says college>working right?

I'll be taking it next year. I'll still have 2 years left of experience to get after that.

From what I've seen, just take the TestMasters class at LTRC and you're pretty much guaranteed to pass.

How much did you study for the FE?

I disagree vehemently with that. I love having money and nice things, and not stressing over hw or tests

I just looked over the equation manual the night before.

I know the masters isn't as good as experience. Just a personal thing

Smart man. I'm not eligible for my PE until 2016, but I'm contemplating getting it over with in April. I need to decide pretty soon here.

ETA: Regarding the class versus experience, it entirely depends on what you do for work. My work experience hasn't prepared me for shite Unless database management and report writing can be my focus

It'll certainly be tougher to take if without the working experience, but you have nothing to lose but time and money, so go for it.
I wonder if it's discipline-dependent. I know for transportation, I didn't need 4 years experience after passing the FE to take the PE. The only 4 years of experience I needed was my college curriculum.

With Petroleum (and I thought all disciplines) you need 4 years of experience under a registered engineer

That was my impression. Masters counts as 1 year

what? with any discipline you need to work the 4 years after under a PE, doesn't matter the type of work you do just that you are under a pe

I think he meant from a knowledge to pass the test standpoint, not a licensing one. At least, that's how I read it.

Holy shite, no.

When I took it, everybody said you need 200 hours. I logged my hours and stopped at 120. I even kept studying even after I felt I was ready just to bring my hours up, but I just couldn't go anymore because I was re-hashing the same shite over & over. I passed, and thought the test was really easy. If you need 300 hours to get ready for it, I feel sorry for you.

The new set-up is horseshite, btw. I think it'd be a lot easier to take it closer to graduating. Generally, you've spent 4 years focusing on one specific thing that you do at your job, and much of your academic knowledge hasn't been exercised since you were in school. The value of PE licensure has been heavily diminished in recent years. I know some real dumbasses that have theirs.
