So Terminix came out and for the contract plus two years of payments the quote was a little less than $1700. That seems absurd. Is that typical or no?

Seems high

I'd think it would be around 800-1000 then maybe another 100 per year of renewal

I had mine treated by a local company recently... have aboit 2k square feet living , probably 3k square feet under roof. He charged me 600 and he's someone I trust.

I started home was 1300 sq feet and terminx charged me 800 if I remember right... they're a rip off.

Does that insure against damages if it gets infected?

Yes it does... it's 125 or 150 each year to countinue the contractor which would cover any damage. He also told be places like terminex want to retreat every 5 years but it really only needs to be done every 10. He's an old friend of high school so I trust sht he's telling me

Call around and tell them all you are getting quotes. Make sure you get one that has some type of insurance coverage for damages, they all pretty much do though.

No way I'd pay $1700 unless you have like a 5,000 sq ft house. It's usually like $800 the first year and $100-200 a year after that for quarterly checks.

Terminix is expensive but you are insuring your house against termites with them. You can get your house treated for less but most likely there won't be a guarantee.

Read the fine print!

I paid 600 plus 175 yearly renewal. The company uses the liquid treatment.

That centricon system never made sense to me. I don't want to lure termites to my house even if the bait kills them. The bait is mishandled or whatever and termites are just gonna move on to my house

None of these companies pay for damages. Even if they miss the infestation.

They will just pay to cover the cost of getting rid of them.

Terminix for me was 1200 initial cost then 140/yr. We had termites in the house a few years back. They started eating through the drywall in the dining room which is how we discovered them. Haven't seen one since that first treatment back in 2014.

How often is it recommended to treat your home? If I just bought a house that had no issues what is typically recommended?

So who here has had damage while under contract, and the termite company paid for the damages?

I was about to buy a house 2 years ago until an inspection found termites. Owner had a termite contract and termite company didnt give them a dime for all the damage they had.
