Somebody has left their car parked in front of my house for over two weeks now, approaching three weeks. It has not moved and it's getting to be ridiculous. Has anyone dealt with this problem before? I'm wondering at what point can I call and have the car towed.

Just push it into the middle of the street. The city will move it.

eta...Unless you live in Nola East.

I don't know what the definition of an abandoned car is, but you can find out.

Is there not 2 hour residential parking limits in your neighborhood? If it were uptown, that thing would have a book of tickets and a boot on it.

Good luck with that attempt. Are your hands amputated or something?

Get some confidence. Say "I AM going to call that number!"

Dealing with the quality of life officer is beyond ridiculous. I've given up on even getting in touch with the one in the 3rd. I think the position may be a running joke in each district just to see how they can send people through a maze of trying to navigate inefficient city agencies.

He could easily make it a nuisance vehicle... bust out the windows and fill the floorboards with water and garbage.

Nuisance vehicle. A motor vehicle on public or private property that is determined by the policing authority to be a health or safety hazard, a public nuisance, and unlawful, including a vehicle found to be:
(1)
A breeding ground or harbor for mosquitoes or other insects or a breeding ground or harbor for rats or other pests; or
(2)
A point of heavy growth of weeds or other noxious vegetation over eight inches in height; or
(3)
A point of collection of pools or ponds of water; or
(4)
A point of concentration of combustible items such as gasoline, oil, other flammable or explosive materials including, but not limited to, boxes, paper, old clothes, rags, refuse, or any other combustible materials or objects of a like nature; or
(5)
One which has parts thereof which may fall and injure members of the public or one which has parts which may fall or be closed and become an area of confinement, such as a trunk lid or door, which may not be released for opening from the inside; or
(6)
One which is so situated and located that there is a danger of the vehicle falling, rolling, turning over, or creating an unsafe movement such as unattended, blocked or jacked vehicles; or
(7)
A point of collection of garbage, food waste, animal waste, or any other rotten or putrescent matter of any kind; or
(8)
One which has parts thereof which are jagged or contain sharp edges of metal or glass; or (sic)

Light it on fire. Fire department comes and puts it out. It gets towed immediately after.

One would think that, but the car that caught on fire at the VA hospital a few months ago sat between 1615 and 1555 Poydras for over a week, and that's right in the CBD.

I put out some gravel in front of my house. Now that I created "my" driveway, I do get irrational anger build up when I see someone else park in it

I then remind myself I don't own that area and they will move shortly, however, I don't know if I could last 3 weeks. I'm too proud of my work.

It's bothering me because it's parked directly in front of my house, too close to the neighbor's driveway to fit a car behind it, but just barely. I end up having to park down the street most of the time.
