People from my HS who went out of state killed it. Socially, academcially , and were way happier. Im stuck here, with same(less friends) and just sucking at everything. These dudes have made great friends from all over the world and fricked hot girls from all kinds of places.

TOPS makes it attractive to stay in state.

Female talent at LSU isn't bad either.

I see the BR students as playing with home field advantage for all the out of towners. Especially if they are not living at home.

Every semester and class gives the socially competent the opportunity to expand their friend group. A dorm rat will be a dorm rat anywhere and even at UCLA, they won't do any better.

LSU provides plenty of advantages to meet incredible new people. You just have to step up and get social from day one. It's not a mystery.

Worry about yourself not others. You want to know lame? Asking people if something is lame.

Now that my time at LSU is fast ending I can say that I'm honestly glad I didn't go out of state. I can go anywhere, any night of the week and it's almost a guarantee I'll see people I know, get free shite from a bartender I knew from high school, and if I want to be adventurous I can hit on the girls from out of town. If I have bad luck with them then I can hit up one of my ex hometown hoes and I won't even have to Google map wherever she's at.

Plus being from here I knew exactly how to avoid traffic, cops, hoodlums. I also knew where all the best specials were and the best places to eat and stuff.

My college experience wasn't too bad.

Avoiding the thugs was troublesome. When ever I left the library after 11 p.m. the walk to my car was always sketchy. I felt as though, eyes were always watching me around the North Gates.

Hell yea they probably were. Honestly anytime I go on the north side at night it's to eat and I'm definitely taking full advantage of my concealed carry.

The part that really disappoints me about my hometown is that while being here in college has been awesome, I've also been jacked, jumped, and had a gun waved in my face twice, which is two more times than I was comfortable with.

I have I enjoyed my life here in BR? hell yea! Am I going to stay to raise my kids in BR? Hell no.

LSU security needs to regulate who they allow on campus and so forth. There was too many robberies when I was a student there. TPOS riding around campus looking for "opportunities". I always packed when studying at the CEBA or Library.

Packing around campus is asking for trouble. Not sure when you went to school but if someone was to see my cc holster I'd be in some serious shite. I always carried in my car.

There's just no real way to limit access to campus. It has definitely become more of a problem the last 5 years though.

I work in the service industry and a lot of the young kitchen guys we have go walk through campus just to check out the scenery and stuff. Those guys aren't exactly the type I trust with my wallet.

Ehh, tops and living at home is/was a big draw.

Lots of kids that venture away from home get home sick and eventually go back. Hell I knew kids that went home to Nola every weekend and never made it past their freshman year. That's only an hour away.

Agreed. UGA was high on my list but I was told by their admissions guy that I'd get into UGA, but receiving any substantial scholarship was not going to happen. They're (or at least were) big on supporting their in-state cohort.

Yeah sometimes going out of state is cheaper.

In GA it was go to a place like southern or perimeter, or pay out the arse for a decent school. UGA was losing money on hope scholarship, same as tops. They raise their standards and tried to attract more and more kids from out of state. Smart play actually. They didn't feel like they had to give a free ride to any kid that just showed up in highschool.

UAMS. I regret not applying to Ole Miss, but I didn't have a degree. I work with a floater who graduated from ULM around 06-07.

And the town I'm technically from is 15 minutes north of Thibodaux up LA 1. I just went to high school in Thib

This is the exact reason I went to Ole Miss. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. LSU is like high school 2.0 for baton rouge kids
