Is it lame for you to go to college in your hometown. I think it would be more fun and cool to go away. Now not ULL, or SELU, ULL, but schools like Tulane, Emory, UT, USC, or MIT.

More of an exotic vibe.

It all depends on the person, the resources they have available at to whether they can afford to move off somewhere and what that person wants to do in life.

I knew more people from BR going to LSU than from any one place, but I can see the appeal of going elsewhere. Especially if you went to U High. But quite a few of them go to LSU, too.

What I will never understand is someone from Louisiana going to another SEC school. Sure, Rhodes, Suwannee, Washington&Lee or whatever. But why go to another run of the mill state school?

But its the same people (HS) and same areas around burbank and Nicholson. I regret going here, maybe should've gone out of state. Dont you ever wonder what if? Different friends, girls? experiences?

Will never get people going to Ole miss or bama. Lawrence and Clark college I can understand

I grew up in AL and went to LSU because a specific degree program initially attracted me to Baton Rouge. Not to mention I wanted to go to an SEC-type school but not to Auburn where 1/2 of my HS was going.

There was never a chance I'd attend Alabama.

I think UGA is in the most fun town

Agreed. UGA was high on my list but I was told by their admissions guy that I'd get into UGA, but receiving any substantial scholarship was not going to happen. They're (or at least were) big on supporting their in-state cohort.

Only a couple of my long time friends grew up in BR and went to LSU. Most didn't.

Looking back, yeah it would've been lame, but I would have much preferred living at home and saving money on rent.

For some of us it was still 18 to drink in Louisiana and 21 everywhere else.

OP, why you think that? Why not pick a school for what you plan on doing the rest of your life once finish?

There is no other reason of picking any school if you don't know what you want out of life.

Went to SELU but currently out of state for pharm school.
I grew up in Thibodaux, but if I was from BR I prolly would have went out of state to like Texas, Auburn, Florida, somewhere cool just to network and experience a different place rather than be anchored in Louisiana forever
