First, if you have any type of accidents in the plant no matter how minor it is, you have to report it. Because if someone else "x" amount of feet away saw it and they report it and you didn't, then you will be in the hot seat.

As for your medicines, if you are legally prescribed that medicine you should have nothing to worry about. Everytime I get prescribed anything, I bring a copy of the Rx to the safety office and put it in my employee profile.

Reason being, I'm prescribed Norco and Flexril (sp) for my RA. I never take my mess at work tho, only at home if I feel the pain getting worse. Reason being, whenever I get randomly more tested, I know it's gonna show up, but I have proof that I'm legally on these meds.

I work in HR, each company is different but long story short if you fail the drug testing company will contact your pharmacy asking for a list of your recent (within 90 days) scripts. They then determine if the drugs you pissed hot on match. If they do then you're fine and you'll be issued a pass. Your company may not even find out. Most companies are ok with Adderall/Vyvanse/Stimulant scripts but can possibly fire you for pain killers on the clock. You have a valid script, unless it's written into your contract you can't take stimulants (some dot jobs are) you are fine.

shite, I wish all my employees were scripted amphetamines. Safety awareness, productivity, and morale boost across the board. Why would you be embarrassed?

First off you shouldn't even had to take a drug test as no company equipment was damaged, no one was injured, and it was your personal vehicle.

This is SOP for most companies after an accident (regardless of the severity of the accident).

The testing company can look up your prescriptions through your med records, the same ones the pharmacy uses online. If you have a prescription for Adderall you wont even hear anything back, just like a passed test.

I will also confirm this. The company will just get a "pass" back. It wont say pass "but he takes Adderall" or anything. They will never know nor do you have to disclose it (unless again it is written into your contract which you signed).

This being said, the testing company will usually call you in advance of contacting your pharmacy just to ask which one you use. Only narcotics are stored in a national database that they can access, in the case of a false positive (which does happen) they have to do a retest and will also contact the pharmacy to see what non narcotics you were prescribed that could've possibly triggered the false positive. For example Fiorocet (non narcotic barbituate) can occasionally trigger false positives for benzos. They will call you to ask which pharmacy you use for confirmation so you will have some sort of heads up you tested positive for something.

If you show up positive for amphetamine (which you will), the MRO will contact for a script. Keep your phone handy, at least where I have worked the MRO won't contact your employer first unless they can't reach you.

Honestly they might not even ask you about it because because so many people are prescribed.

True. Any property damage will likely result in testing. I have seen things get a little looser for sprains/strains because $$ for testing.

They pissed you to protect the company from a potential workmen's comp claim on your part.

Don't worry, be happy.

You'll likely test positive for amphetamines. The MRO (Doctor) will call you. Produce your valid, current prescription. If you do that the MRO will report a negative result (meaning you passed). You'll be fine.

LOL at you morons who think HIPAA means your medical information is completely confidential in all circumstances with respect to everyone. Love me some OT armchair lounge lizard lawyers.

How many times can you frick up from one situation?

quote:

when I left for lunch I backed into (barely tapped) a truck of a co-worker

mistake

quote:

Got out, inspected both vehicles (zero damage) and went to tell her immediately.

mistake

quote:

Asked her to double check for damage, she said not worry, no harm no foul.

made up for mistakes. story should end here.

quote:

I ended up telling one of my other co-workers

mistake. Definitely shouldnt have told your coworker.

quote:

I might want to tell my manager in case there's any report I have to complete.

No you shouldnt and you shouldve hand told your coworker thanks for the advice and again, the story should end here.

quote:

I didn't see the need

good. so the story ends here or your you'd rather shoot yourself in both feet?

quote:

but end up telling him.

jesus man. mistake.

quote:

He calls safety and they tell me I have to go into medical and take a drug/alcohol test.

mistake

quote:

I have a prescription for Adderall and take 1-2 a week when I really need to get things done/during big projects.

mistake

quote:

I'm embarrassed about my boss finding out/thinking I can't perform without it/etc.

then you shouldn't have told him

I had to tell a company I was out of town when they wanted me to take a drug test to get hired. I ended up being "out of town" for a week and a half, and came up clean when I took it
