Not to mention that at this rate, the death toll to bring this match will be higher than 9/11.

the article is talking about deaths across construction projects in qatar, not the world cup stadium projects. at this point, nobody has died during stadium construction.

didn't they also just confirm that Qatar businessmen paid a FIFA exec a large sum of money right after the voting was finished?

That world cup is going to be one giant disaster

Do not want a winter World Cup.

It won't be. They've already acknowledged it will not be in Jan/Feb because of the Winter Olympics.

You'd think the people in charge of choosing would have the foresight to realize they were plopping the World Cup down in the middle of a desert during the summer

They've addressed that too. It won't be in the Summer. Spring over there is actually very nice weather.

This may be worse than the World Cup in South Africa and the Sochi Olympics combined.

And Salt Lake City hosting the winter olympics.

It's simply fricking insane to host the World Cup there. There's no question that the only reason they're hosting is that they bribed the most. This may be worse than the World Cup in South Africa and the Sochi Olympics combined. I can only imagine the shite holes they'll be keeping people in. There's no way a country of 2 million people total can pull this off. This will be a debauchery that has never been seen in sports. You know that the fans and players are thrilled to be playing in a basically dry country and where highs are typically around 110 degrees.

It's pretty common knowledge that the World Cup is sold to the highest bidder. The Economist did an article a couple years back and suggested FIFA hold an open auction for the World Cup.

I thought they were looking at Nov/Dec as the most likely dates.

Maybe, but they were clear they would not mess up Winter Olympics.

But still, Nov/Dec Highs are in the 70/80's and the Lows are in the 60's. Why is that so horrible?
