Some good therapy can be found in digging a hole in situations like this.

Ain't that the truth. Physical labor has always made me reflect, especially when it had purpose. I buried all my pets. Put them down if necessary, dug the holes, said the words and put them to rest.

They were my companions in life and my responsibilities in death. To pawn them off on someone else, no matter if it was tough or not, just seemed wrong.

Come on man. That's overkill. .22lr to the back of the skull. Put your friend out of its misery.

yes it overkill, but its also effective. why do you think they say the best gun for home defense is a shotgun? Cause its hard to miss with it (among other reasons). thats my point- you likely wont miss the brain on the dog with a shotgun.
Unless you are truly fricking spastic/retarded.

all the more reason I wouldn't do it myself.

I'll just have the wife do it. Shes good at it

It's better than beating them to death with a ketchup bottle.

Yes, it will do it instantly, just put the weapon to the back of it's head, pull the trigger and they drop like a stone. It's over instantly. I've had to do it more than once and can attest that it works.

Good Lord- guns, ketchup bottles. Who are the animals? My vet came to my home and sedated my sweet man while I held him- then administered the final injection. He was peaceful and calm as he died in his own bed. Saddest thing I have ever done in my life. It has been 2 weeks and reading this makes me want to adopt some of your dogs!

Yeah, but how are you gonna bury a bloody spot on the grass?

Is it wrong that I'm laughing imagining some city slicker with grandpappy's 12-gauge pointed at some little yappy lapdog's head?

He pulls the trigger, obliterating the pup and sending him flying backwards with recoil as his prim and proper wife and two cherubic little children look on in their Sunday best, holding flowers and a poem for Mr. Skittlebottoms. And now their jaws hang open and they are spattered head to toe in blood.

Call 911 and tell them you are beating your wife. The cops will show up and shoot your dog. Just bury the dog in a shallow grave.

Yea, that would be funny.. I just use a .22 to the back of the head.. dog is dead before his chin hits the ground. Cant imagine paying someone to put a dog down.

I do not want a dead dogs corpse to bury even though it is a good discount. Digging a 4-5 foot hole in August is not happening.

What a loving owner you are!

I hope none of your relatives ever die in July and have to be buried outside. That's one funeral you won't be attending. "Sorry, me-maw. You should have died in the fall."

I don't bury animals. Haul them off in the woods. Buzzards gotta eat.

Well a couple of weeks later her daughter found a cat's tooth in the bathroom. She told her another lie but was not sure if she believed it.

um...what?

I call b.s. on the lady. No way she really did that shite.

One shot. Don't shake. Don't heistate. Tell your friend goodbye one last time and then end his suffering.

He'll thank you that you did it and didn't pawn him off.

Why not just drown the dog in the tub and then dig a hole at night time when temps drop into 70's. Keep the dog in the yard where it belongs. Make sure you put socks on the dogs feet so it doesn't scratch you.

they say drowning is a very soothing experience once you get past the panic part.

Sorry that the time has come to say goodbye to your pet. The price is reasonable.

i must be the only one here that ever trapped for money. we used to use an old axe handle and club nutria, muskrats, coons, or mink to kill them. It didn't mess up the pelt and the animal died instantly. Unless you missed. then it got a little dicey. Good times when you're a kid.
So Im not advocating bludgeoning your pet to death, but, if properly executed, it is highly effective. and much less conspicuous then a gun
