Just found out today my lab of 9 years has cancer. She’s in no pain as of now but the moment I see her life change I will have to do what’s best for her. Been cutting onions all day.

I know the pain you are in my friend. Nothing can prepare you for that. Last month I had to put my cat of 20 years down. He was the coolest cat you could ever ask for, he was almost like a dog. My best buddy, when the kids went to bed he would come chill with me bc he knew then I wasn’t busy. I’d stay up a little later just to hang with him. He had a multitude of problems it’s amazing he lasted that long.

They are in heaven now having a good old time, god bless you. You aren’t alone in grief.

I’m so sorry to hear. My cat also lost a lot of muscle in his back legs at the end, he had a tough time. It would be easier if they passed naturally, putting them down is absolute torture and I prob can’t go thru it again.

A lot of great pet owners on here, many of you are good people. Animals are gods gift imo.

The only thing I can think of as to why they dont live long is because we can have many "best furry friends" in our lifetime. That gives me some comfort at least.

I knew better than to click on this thread 10 hours ago. I failed this time. Sorry, for all of you.

Very sad. I have been keeping my daughters secret dog from college for last year while she lived in the Sorority house and to be honest I am really really going to miss him

You did right by her. It was act of mercy for a dog that led her best life.

It does hurt though, I mean, let's be straight, it's just horrible. But, us guys have to always be strong for the fam and power through, really nothing else we can do.

Hang in there, we all feel your pain.

I'm sorry your time with your dog has come to an end. 12 yrs! Your animal was well treated or it doesn't make it for that long. An animal at a local shelter needs an owner just like you to insure it a great life. They give far more than they ever take. Good luck to you.
