Because I thought of the Pokemon-related comment after I told you to shut your bitch arse mouth, and I decided it was cleverer/funnier than my petty insult.

I'm 27 and it was HUGE with my age group as well as with the older kids here in Atlanta

I grew up in Atlanta metro and remember it being a thing, but I honestly never saw anything of it directly. I assume there were TV and video games, and I didn't see it at all among my peers. More like I would hear it referenced on the news or commercials or such.

Same age. Pokemon took over. It's unusual to find people who weren't into it. The games were like crack. Gotta take advantage of that missing number glitch.

I wasn't that big into non sports video games either... I played sports, raised hell outside but I played the frick out of Pokemon on my game boy color and collected binders full of the cards

Hell, I found my old game boy and blue cartridge a couple years back and played through it for old times sake... That shite was still just as fun as the day I got it

A whole lot of overcompensating going on in this thread.

I think some just overestimate the number of people into stuff like Pokemon. I'm sure it was popular, but this thread is filled with people largely unfamiliar with it.

I think it's probably like anime or comic books. People who were into them were REALLY REALLY into them and the intensity is sometimes mistaken for it being more widespread.

Was largely referring to the people claiming to be "getting busy behind the bleachers (at age 11)"

ETA: I guarantee you there are at least two people in this thread who claim they never played it, yet secretly played it.

In a certain age group pokemon was a phenom product. Apparently there are more old farts around here than anticipated.

It sounds like it exploded in a way that has many of us who are relatively close in age largely unfamiliar with it (first hand) while others were obsessed with it.

Things I know about Pokemon:

"Catch them all"
I know one of them is pikachu

You must have been right after the cutoff point and just in high school when it took off.

My nephew was a pokienam nut. It looked like a total waste of my time. This thread proves that I was right.
