They were done in the 70's and confirmed the ability to be legitimate (also reported on Drudge).

So what do we think is really behind this ability? Have you ever experienced it?

They are working on using MRI technology to tell you what movie you're remembering. LINK / Considering the many animals that have abilities to sense different things like magnetic forces, I don't think it's crazy for there to be a 1 in a Billion human that's sensitive enough to something like that they can "read" people's thoughts.

The article states that the research was conducted by the Stanford Research Institute but the video says "Stamford Research Institute" on the bottom left.

I'd like to see the pile of drawings he got wrong.

James Randi offers a pretty thorough criticism of how these studies were conducted.

Stanford Research Institute is correct. It's an independent R&D group formerly affiliated with Stanford University, but now operates independently. One of the many things they have done is conduct remote viewing experiments for the CIA and DoD.

IIRC they had some notable successes, including locate a new Soviet missile facility, and helping find a US general kidnapped by Italian terrorists in the 1980's. Getting consistent results was a problem, and the research "officially" ended, although they're probably still working on it.
