In your opinion, do birds cooked in oil less fryers taste the same as birds cooked in ovens?

No, they taste a bit different, not bad or necessarily worse in any way. If someone wants to use an oiless fryer because it is easier or healthier great. if you don't like having a boiling pot of grease around during family time great. You may want to free up oven space for other items. But some of these folks fail to even understand they are simply roasting a turkey, and any modern oven is capable of doing a great job. This is marketing at its finest.

Had a taste of one last night that was damn good. As long as it is brined/seasoned appropriately they turn out great. Just remember to use the giblets for the gravy (that's my only knock on the oiless or oil frying methods...you lose out on the drippings for gravy).

I've been using an oil less for a few years and I know it isn't the same but boy it is so much easier when it comes to cleaning up and cheaper

Meh - my father-in-law can cook anything with anything, including an oilless fryer.

My oil less fryer makes better turkeys than oil fryers from the ones I've tasted.

Been using the Big Easy for years. Tastes as good as fried, without the mess and $35 for oil every time you cook. Great for ribs, roasts, whole tenderloins, chicken etc.

Trust me

Using my big easy today on a turkey breast. I always put it in with some olive oil on the skin and tony's but some other tips might be helpful.

I do the olive oil and tony's as well. I use creole butter cajun injector (Don't overdo it though)

I use the butterball and take advantage of the smoking option. Works great and gets a better flavor than oven.

I agree though, oil is better, but this is still good and wasn't really that expensive at $80. I don't have a smoker, so this will have to do til I can decide on a high end smoker.

Trying to get a healthier option as well.

Yes they do. 100%.

I've used both. I hate frying now that I have the oil less.

That is what I did the first time I used mine. Wow that sucker was spicy, but juicy and still good.

I have the butterball as well, what kind of chips do you put in it and do you use the smoking option when you are cooking the turkey with the olive oil on the outside?

I have the masterbuilt electric smoker and it does pretty damn good. It won't give you the smoke ring on your ribs, but if you put a piece of charcoal in the wood chip tray it will. My cousin has the propane version and he says it is awsome just as long as you keep it out of the wind. I think both are farely cheap options.

Apple or cherry for turkeys. I put peanut oil on the outside when I use it to crisp up the skin.

I have been looking at mastebuilt, just not sure how much I want to spend yet.
