Reminder to self -- if ripping off a liquor store in okie, don't wear a hoodie... that's illegal.

Nothing that comes out of Okla, Kansas or any southern state should surprise anyone.

I don't think people breaking a law will care about breaking another one. That's a dumb fricking law.

Oklahoma must be a really awesome place if one of their lawmakers biggest concerns are people wearing hooded sweatshirts. They must have solved all the ordinary problems of the modern world and are now able to focus on situations such as the great hoodie epidemic facing our society. God speed.

Bust out a map. OK and KS are MidWestern states, not the South.

Liberals take away personal freedoms? You can't say Liberal and Oklahoma in the same sentence. Liberals aren't the ones taking away a woman's right to choose.

That proposal is drawing mixed reactions.

This is the part of the story that is really sad.

Mixed? Really?

I thought the same thing. Legislating the type of sweatshirts people can wear.

This seems redundant. The crime being committed is already illegal.

Do they get an extra hoodie charge on top of the charges for knocking over a gas station?

Actual proposal.

Hostin argued that hoodie bans are similar to previous bans on sagging pants, in that both target clothing items or styles worn predominantly by black men.

While there may be some truth to this statement, plenty of white people also wear hoodies. This whole thing is ludicrous. I agree that this is a huge over reach.

They aren't solving any problems with laws like this. They are simply creating new ones.

You all do realize this doesn't outlaw wearing hoodies, right? It only outlaws wearing disguises, masks, and hoodies during the commission of a crime.

quote:

There are already laws in Oklahoma preventing hoodies during a crime.

"21 OS 13 01 has always made it a crime to wear a hoodie or some sort of disguise during the commission of criminal offense," Siderias says.

Now, a proposal for an amendment to that law could make it illegal to hide your identity in any public place.

You are actually correct and I was wrong. It is a proposal that basically allows a cop the authority to determine whether someone is attempting to conceal their identity. This is not going to go well for their legislators.

The author also attempts to declare it an emergency situation in Oklahoma right now in an attempt to push this through faster.

This is one of the dumbest proposed laws I have ever heard of.
