What about the 5 year old poor kids that didn't ask to be born with poor parents? You still give them the crappy candy?
I could understand not giving to the trashy parents or the teenagers.....but why punish a young child who deserves to experience Halloween like everyone else?

I think it's weird for a 13-year-old to be trick-or-treating anyway. I have a daughter that age. She and her friends usually do things like going to a haunted house or a haunted corn maze trail. They shouldn't still be trick-or-treating at that age.
I can't imagine begrudging a young child some candy, though.

in the past I've taken it a step further, I have built some fairly elaborate mini haunted houses that takes the kids a while to get through, line forms, the moms love it

I get one big arse bowl of the good shite and when that happens, I just go inside and turn off the lights until they go away. Problem solved.
I'm not buying Candy just to give it out to those strangers, only the strangers that I know in my neighborhood.

fricking over little kids on Halloween because their parents are poor isn't something I would brag about but that is just me. If anything you should try to make the night special for them, they probably don't get a lot of them.

I don't give candy to anyone who looks older than 12. Sorry
Grow up.

I get really into putting things together to make Trick or Treating nice and fun for anyone who rings the bell. I know lots of the kids that come to our door don't actually live in our neighborhood and I don't mind. As soon as we turn off the lights, though, out comes RoboBitch. I can't believe they would come to a dark house!!

I try to practice "do unto others" so most of this doesn't bother me. If it brings a little happiness to a difficult life its good by me. And if giving away a little extra candy would break me I'd just turn off the lights for everyone.
But I do draw the line at young mothers trying to get candy for infants in strollers or baby carriers or for their "baby sleeping in the car".

One bowl
Every kid get the same. Not all kids live in a neighborhood that is safe or there may not be people participating or giving out candy there.

That's how you end up with an egged house/keyed car/slashed tires. Easier to do a cheap candy bowl.
