Lou Pai, all you do is come across as a condescending a-hole in these threads instead of trying to discuss things.

I don't want to see anyone lose their jobs, but when gas was $4.50 a gallon and the common oilfield laborer was making 6 figures, he should have been paying off his debt, not buying shiny new bobbles.

Every industry has ups and downs. You have to be responsible for yourself and your family.

We should just take their oil. Give them a small subsidy, like $5 a barrel.

Put all our workers over there, send the oil back here, and America will prosper further.

stop bitching about the cost of fuel.
Don't artificially inflate the price of gas (not you in particular, although it would be a cool power to have) making everything else more expensive.

Everything, in one form or another, requires oil.

The price of everything is affected by oil.

Stop acting like the only thing that is affected by oil prices is how much it costs at the pump.

Crude oil is used for more than just fuel. Chem plants will actually thrive and increase production with cheaper oil.

Point taken, and I apologize if so. It just pisses me off to read comments that would be akin to OWS stuff.

How many of those laid off were educated, or even skilled laborers?

I would guess 8 out of the 10 had college degrees. 3 had engineering degrees. 2 have been with us for a long time and I'm not sure but I doubt they had a degree. Hell I don't have a degree

They were all skilled labor. We don't employ roughnecks

Always is a stretch, maybe in our lifetimes though.

Not artificially inflated until Saudi Arabia decided to run American companies that were founded on margin out of business.

Didn't you say that you laid them off? Or were you just speaking for your company?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions no matter how wrong they are.

I have seen dumb arguments from both sides like the guy that just told people to quit buying other things they desire so they can afford higher priced gas.

You do know that crude oil was used to produce the plastic of the device you are typing on, right?

College degree doesn't mean much these days as the OT could have told you. I don't feel sorry for anyone who has a college degree but can't find a job, a degree by itself is not enough. I don't wish for anyone to be unemployed, but there aren't enough good jobs to go around

You'd think that if you're a bazillionaire you could afford to not look like such a dweeb.
