Generally speaking, anything used for business purposes is excluded from a homeowners policy.

I believe I know the place you're talking about. Prayers sent.

Yea you're not far from Hornbeck being in Alexandria

thanks. Turns out the building could have easily caught the house next door on fire, which my uncle lives in. So I'm just happy no one was hurt or killed.

This is what everyone should be thankful for. Buildings and businesses can be rebuilt.

Not sure. The whole "prayers requested" had always been a strange saying on a message board to me.

Then it's about a situation where no one died or was sick or in grave danger. I guess I'd be surprised if anyone actually prayed for your grandparent's business. Most people have equally serious issues going on.

And to top it off, most replies are about geography and insurance regulations.

Just an odd thread to me.

Why click on the thread then? A person requesting prayers has communicated their personal belief in the power of prayer and is asking others with a similar belief to be in prayer for a specific situation.

On a board like these where you interact with the same people over and over you tend to feel like you "know" them, even though you don't. It lends to a greater level of connection and concern for others.

People's livelihood has been impacted. It's not pleasant and is certainly "prayer worthy" for other believers.

I've taken the one minute needed to pray for this family. It doesn't take long. This response may take more out of my day than my prayer did.

agree, but those people didn't request prayer.

only made odd by insurance industry and geography discussions, imo

I mentioned this thread to my son-in-law who is a volunteer fireman in Hornbeck. He said that he responded to this fire and didn't get home until 2AM Tuesday morning.
