You'd be better off making alcohol as a fuel source.
That and disinfectant. Plus tons of other medicines from plants that can be synthesized for medicines

Alcohol as a drink would be a luxury.
In the end times, alcohol isn't just a luxury...it's a necessity. Uses for alcohol:
1) Drink away your sorrows
2) Fuel
3) Lantern fuel
4) Disinfectant
and list goes on and on...
Once again, I choose to be the brewmaster/moonshine maker

I'd grow weed for everyone. Wait never mind even after the apocalypse it'll still be illegal.

I'd definitely become a clergyman. I would charge all y'all your gas, salt, carpentry skills, Viagra, hooch and whores in exchange for eternal salvation.

Surprised no one has chosen prostitute. The oldest profession will be very lucrative in the end times.

I don't know, kinda sounds cool assuming there was still a modicum of order albeit loosely organized. A lot of people assume it'll just be absolute anarchy but I think there are always lesser scenarios where order is still around but stretched thin.
Assuming that's the case with a badge I could kill whoever I wanted to. Plus if you're trying to win trust from strangers (with either good or bad intentions) it would help.
Also with communications mostly down, it may help to be able to utilize those local comm resources.
Some other potential benefits, again, all depending on how bad things are.

Murderer for hire. Sometimes fun.

My group will have scavenger hunts.
Blondes, redheads..hispanic, asian etc.
You can either bring back a woman (use common sense, no ugly chicks) or literally the decapitated head of a man.
Whoever wins gets to VJ movie night for that week.

Professional killer
There will be a lot of demand for that after the apocalypse.

I think I'd start making alcohol (beer or moonshine) and use the alcohol as currency.
In the end times alcohol will be as valuable if not more valuable than gold.
Great post. Post apocalypse usually entails no manufacturing... cars would be useless because gas would go bad within a year anyway. Since we would return to using horses as transportation and work, items like saddles, plows, etc., would be in high demand. So maybe that. Need to think more...
