One thing is clear from that:
He was doing a whole lot of screaming, yelling, and talking for a man who couldn't breathe.

Don't forget resisting too!

I hate that the guy lost his life over this. I really do. But why is it so hard for some people to follow simple directions? If someone has me at gunpoint, you can be damn sure I will be listening very close and following every command with no room for error. Dude was hesitant and every command had to be told to him 4 or 5 times from the second that cop opened the door. I really don't understand.

He clearly wasn't in his right mind (tweaked out) during this encounter.

He was out of his mind, saying he couldn't breathe when he was still halfway in the car. Pretty clear the cops made a decision to restrain him until EMS arrived. Obviously that decision proved deadly, but that's a shitty situation and hard to prove deadly intent from that footage.

Maybe policies should be adjusted to avoid restricting breathing during a global respiratory pandemic

Or just in general

It doesn't help when you immediately tell a cop that you were shot by a cop before either

Those cops aren't racist at all and Floyd threw a tantrum trying to not go to jail.

I get that, but I figured the pistol in the face would sober me up really fast.

And as far as the interaction shown on that 8+ minute video, I personally have received rougher treatment from club bouncers than that, including being choked damn near to the point of passing out.

What about the autopsy that showed no signs of suffocation or bruising on the trachea?

So was he counted as a COVID death or counted as a homicide?

My comment was meant generally in response to someone noting he had covid contributing to his breathing issue. Frankly, we should all be pretty cool with ideas like adjusting police technique with situational awareness was my primary point there.

I missed the part where mask mandates were state law.

Attorney General Landry doesn't view it as legal either.

Your assumption is the typical mask defiant OT'er would let the situation escalate to the point of eating pavement with a knee to the neck if a cop told them to put a mask on?

Fair enough.

This will probably piss off all sides but it’s clear from this video and others that a major issue is thrusting police in situations/conflicts for which they are not equipped to handle.

I’m sorry but if you’re pulling out your gun and pointing it at the guy in that situation then you are framing the frick out. So now you have two people freaking out and scared about what the other one will do (and reinforced by lots of previous negative experience both ways) and you get a predictable result.

Rinse and repeat. Will keep happening as long as both extremes just keep screaming and denigrating instead of solving the fricking problem.

Thug did not deserve the post mortem glory, however, he did not deserve to die the way he did.
